Ormondale's Used Book Fair

Mon Mar 16 through Fri Mar 20

Save Your Used Books, DVD's, CD's, and Video Games

Written by the Third Grade Students in Ms. Woolfe's Class

Do you want to help the environment? Here is your chance to reduce, reuse, and recycle all at one time! Join with the third grade classes as they put on a Used Book Fair.  We would like you to donate gently used adult and children's books as well as DVD's, CD's, and computer games.  The money that we earn will go to the Ormondale library and the charity, Room to Read. The last time we had a Used Book Fair our school earned enough money to build a library in Nepal!

From Mon Feb 9 to Wed Mar 18 third graders will collect books, CD's, DVD's and computer games in the morning drop off line. There will be bins outside of the office as well. Book, CD, DVD, and computer game drop off continues right up to the date of the fair in Ormondale's office and Corte Madera's library. Thank you for supporting literacy and the environment all at one time!

Bike/Walk to School Day

Our first Bike/Walk to school day for 2015 will be Wed Mar 11 for ORM and Fri Mar 13 for CMS.  As many of you already know, exercising first thing in the morning is one of the most rewarding ways to start our day!  The sound of the birds as they rise, the crisp morning air, and the sense that we already have one task down!  It provides us an energy that is difficult to explain. For our children, this can be the same reward; enjoying the outdoors, hanging out with friends or cherishing a quiet moment alone, and giving themselves a calm they may not be able to explain!  Walking or riding to school will not only decrease traffic and pollution, but will raise the oxygen in our childrens brains and prepare them for an exciting day of learning, laughing and playing!  Of course, we encourage everyday to be a bike/walk to school day!  Such priceless activities have advantages for all who participate!

CMS Leadership Opportunity

CMS is looking for student leaders and role models to assist with morning drop off efficiency. Our student valets would greet students being dropped off at the front of the school with a cheerful smile, wave and a message of any important reminders of the week...aka, spirit days. Valets would be required to be at CMS by7:45 and provide leadership in the front drop off area until 7:55, once a week, for the remainder of the school year.  As a thank you for their service, commitment and assistance with drop off efficiency we will celebrate their hard work with a Spring and end of year celebration!

If you would like your child to be a part of this fabulous leadership opportunity, please have them pick up an application at the CMS front office today!

Message from CMS Principal on After-School STEM Program

Here is a copy of a letter explaining an exciting opportunity for our 4th & 5th grade girls. Please take the time to read about how your daughter can learn more about STEM and the potential for a career in this field of study. I am hopeful that our girls will be inspired to participate and to finely hone their understanding of STEM and how it relates to their future.

Respectfully,
