Ormondale's Scholastic Book Fair Is Almost Here!

bookfairNext week Ormondale's MUR will be transformed into a "reading castle" full of exciting titles for all ages. For kids, you will find sections dedicated to specific lexile levels, interest areas, the common core, and award winners. For adults, you will find quality literature, best sellers, and cookbooks. This event is the sole fundraising source for PVSD's libraries - so while you stock your bookshelf at home you are ensuring our students have the latest and greatest titles at school too.

The fair will be open before, during, and after school Mon Sep 29 - Fri Oct 3.

In addition, we have three special events planned:

  • Fri Sep 26, 2:50 - 4:00 pm: Popsicle Preview. Shop early! Popsicles for the first 100 people to buy a book.
  • Tue Sep 30, 5:00 -7:00 pm: A Night with the Knights. No need to make dinner - purchase dinner and dessert from two amazing food trucks. Eat, shop the book fair, and enjoy special story times with Mr. Keegan and Dr. Gonzales. Expanded selections for older students (4th - 8th grade) will be featured at this event.
  • Fri Oct 3, 7:45 - 8:30 am: Dad's Breakfast. Dads (or moms), bring your kids to school early, grab a bite to eat and hit the book fair for a last shopping spree before it closes. This annual event is always popular with the kids so make sure you put this in your calendar now!

Fair Hours:

Fri Sep 26, 2:50 - 4:00 pm

Mon Sep 29, 7:45 am - 4:00 pm

Tue Sep 30, 7:45 am - 3:30 pm and 5:00 -7:00 pm

Wed Oct 1, 7:45 am - 3:00 pm

Thu Oct 2, 7:45 am - 4:00 pm

Fri Oct 3, 7:45 am - 1:00 pm

We are still looking for a few more volunteers to help out at the fair. Shifts take as little as a half hour. To sign up, click here or email book fair co-chairs Caitlin Kortlang or Sarah Byrne.

Help Our Schools While Shopping with Amazon & eScrip
Each year the PVSD PTO pays for classroom supplies for every student in the district using funds raised through the eScrip and Amazon.com programs.

Your direct purchases at Amazon.com also support our programs, teachers, and children. Simply click here: Amazon.com, then bookmark that page, and make sure you click that bookmark every time you shop with Amazon.com. You must enter the website through this specific link. It's that easy. Portola Valley School District PTO will receive a minimum of 4% of every purchase made through this method and, aside from the extra click, you should see no difference in your shopping experience. Don't forget to bookmark the new page for future purchases.

All you need to do to help is to go to
www.escrip.com and register
your credit cards and Safeway Club Card (if you have one). Please make sure to direct donations to the Portola Valley School District
PTO.
Book Drive for Primary School on Caribbean Island, Nevis

Help us collect books for a book drive benefiting the St. Kitts-Nevis primary school on the small Caribbean island of Nevis. The primary schools on this island are struggling and there is a great need for all sorts of material resources. There are no computers or even a library. We are collecting geography books, books on ecology, science (i.e. marine biology would be appropriate for an island nation; earth science, physical science, astronomy/space), math, readers for ages 6-11, animals, and language arts.

The days of the book drive are Wed Sep 24 thru Fri Oct 3. Large plastic boxes with a sign that says, "BOOKS FOR NEVIS" will be located in the CMS Library and at the Portola Valley Library. Questions? Email Claudia Mazzetti
