Greetings, Charger families!
Parents, don't forget that course selections for the 2016-17 school year are going on RIGHT NOW. Naviance will be open untilMonday, February 22. See below to learn more about getting help with logging in, what to do if your student has questions, etc. ALL students will meet with their counselors one-on-one to go over these selections and parents will be invited to a counselor drop-in day in April.
Here are some highlights from this week's PFC meeting regarding course selections: - Courses are, for the most part, based on student demand.
- Any rumors you hear about specific teachers teaching (or not teaching) specific classes cannot possibly be true. The master schedule is not fully set until summertime and even then, there are tweaks.
- Students cannot switch classes for reasons other than errors in the system, level changes (ex. dropping AP to do college prep) and the like. They cannot switch classes because they don't want a certain teacher, because their buddy is in a different class, etc. This is real life, kiddos!
Have a great week, Chargers!

NAVIANCE COURSE SELECTION - FEBRUARY 12 - FEBRUARY 22
Students should make their course selections in Naviance ASAP. Naviance will close on Monday, February 22.
Choosing classes is the first step in the process. Counselors will begin meeting with each student individually beginning February 23 and for the next three weeks. Students should choose their classes carefully as changes will only be made in the Fall for staff inputting errors, changes due to Summer School and level changes.
There will be a parent/student drop in on April 7 from 3-6pm in the AHS Media Center. The counseling office continues to be open before school at 7am and after school until 4pm. Students with questions about scheduling are strongly encouraged to come in to see a counselor.
If you have any questions, please call the counseling office at ext. 246.

Students participating in this program will experience first-hand the challenges, rewards, and pitfalls of operating their own company. It is a real-life business, with real-life lessons students will carry with them into their adult lives and careers. Some of the subjects covered are creating a marketing plan, practicing selling concepts, managing financial records, managing operations and staff, applying ethics and social responsibility, and learning about business technology and business communications. In addition, students will learn all the career essentials necessary to obtain a job and will compile a personal career portfolio with samples of all their work.
Students who successfully complete the course, Small Business Management/Entrepreneurship "g" Elective Credits (EC), are eligible for University of California elective credit.
