The PFC provides this weekly Student Bulletin as a service to our school community, but we do not generate the contents. ACADEMICS
AHS Showcase 2016:
All are welcome to attend the AHS Showcase at 5:45pm this Wednesday, February 10th. This special night showcases our amazing programs at Agoura High. Check the AHS website for specific details. There is an important meeting at 5:45pm in the G Bldg for parents of Juniors who are planning on attending a two or four year college.  Counselors will be making a short presentation with helpful tips and timelines, followed by small group break outs.  We hope to see you there!

CSF Applications:   
CSF Applications for Spring 2016 are due to Mr. Teitell during support in room C-5 no later than Friday, February 12th.  Donations may be paid on the webstore now through February 12th or at the AAC.

Cal Grant GPA Verification Forms are ready for pick up in the Counseling Office.

Attention Sophomores and Juniors!
Do you like working with kids? Are you looking for a fun elective for next year? In the Careers in Education class you get to go off campus and help out at local elementary and middle schools! The class looks great on applications and resumes, can lead to scholarships, and can completely change the way you think about your teachers! There is an interest meeting in room K-2 at Nutrition on Wednesday, February 10th. Snacks will be provided.

AP Physics I Informational Meeting  
this Thursday, February 11th at lunch in room B-3. AP Physics I is an Algebra Based Physics course any Senior, Junior or Sophomore can take. See Mr. Robbins at the meeting or in room B-3.

IB Physics SL:
There will be a mandatory informational meeting for all students interested in taking IB Physics SL next year on Thursday, February 11th, at lunch in room D-4. Come find out about summer preparation and what to expect next year. If you cannot attend, please see Mrs. McClellan for information.

Attention Freshmen!
All freshmen interested in taking AP European History next year should attend the interest meeting this Thursday, February 11th at lunch in room K-4. The opportunities and responsibilities of the class will be explained. All are welcome!


Is Writing your Thing? Is being in a quirky and food-friendly atmosphere your thing?
If you answered "yes" to one of both of these questions, Creative Writing is the class for you! Come to an interest meeting on Thursday, February 11th at lunch in room K-8 to meet current students and find out more about Creative Writing - a U.C. approved elective and a way cool class.


History of the Americas HL:
There will be a mandatory informational meeting for all students interested in taking IB History of the Americas HL next year this Friday, February 12th at lunch in room D-4. Come find out about this exciting and rewarding course. If you cannot attend, please see Mrs. McClellan for information.

Mid-Term Transcripts:
Seniors that applied to Common Application colleges need to order a mid­year transcript now. If you are not sure if your college needs a transcript, please see your counselor.


COURSE SELECTION 2016/17:
Students in grades 9, 10 & 11 will be selecting their courses for 2016/17. Naviance will open beginning February 12 through February 22. Students will need their Naviance user name and passwords to access Naviance. If students need assistance, the counselors will be available as follows:

AP Exam Sales
are through Friday, February 19th via the Webstore and at the AAC.  The cost for the AP is $100.00.  The cost for the Chinese/Japanese exam is $150.00.   CLICK HERE for purchasing instructions. The students and parent are also required to complete the Student/Parent Sign-Off Form before purchasing an AP exam.  If you purchase it online, there is a box that must be checked agreeing to the policy and procedures. You must also read the 2015-2016 AP Bulletin for Students and Parents.


Did you know that Agoura High School has a Small Business Management/Entrepreneur Class? !? In this class, students are involved with the Junior Achievement (JA) Company Program.  Students participating in this program will experience first-hand the challenges, rewards, and pitfalls of operating their own company.  It is a real-life business, with real-life lessons students will carry with them into their adult lives and careers.  Some of the subjects covered are creating a marketing plan, practicing selling concepts, managing financial records, managing operations and staff, applying ethics and social responsibility, and learning about business technology and business communications.  In addition, students will learn all the career essentials necessary to obtain a job and will compile a personal career portfolio with samples of all their work. Students who successfully complete the course, Small Business Management/Entrepreneurship "g" Elective Credits (EC), are eligible for University of California elective credit.  This course aligns with and/or incorporates the California Career Technical Education Standards, including academic standards.
  
ACTIVITIES
Chipotle Food Night:
Make dinner a selfless act by joining the fundraiser to support AHS Grad-Nite. Come to the Chipotle in Westlake Village on Tuesday, February 9th between 4 - 8 p.m. Bring in this flyer, show it on your smartphone or tell the cashier you're supporting the cause to make sure that 50% of the proceeds will be donated to AHS Grad-Nite.

Bridge Building Contest
will be held on March 19, 2016 at Westlake High School. The 2 highest scoring bridge builders will represent our region to compete at the International Bridge Building Contest at Illinois Institute of Technology in Chicago, Illinois on a date TBD this year. If interested, please visit

ATHLETICS
Girls Basketball will play their last home game tonight, against Newbury Park. The winner will take second place in league and a higher seed in the playoffs. They will also be honoring their seniors during a special Senior Night Celebration. Come out and wish them well and cheer them on to victory.

SENIORS
A Senior Information Meeting
will take place on Wednesday, February 17, at 8:45am in the gym. Seniors are to report to their 2nd period class for attendance prior to reporting to the gym. Seniors will receive information on graduation, and senior activities and the Senior Panoramic Picture will be taken following the meeting. You MUST attend this meeting to be eligible to participate in senior activities.

SERVICE LEARNING
The Dole Great Race 2016 is a great opportunity to get involved in a fun, community-wide activity. There are many volunteer opportunities (minimum age is 14 unless working with an adult or sibling). Spots fill quickly! Sign up directly at volunteer.greatrace.run.
