Greetings, Charger families!

Did you know that Monday is our first Late Start Day? These are very exciting for students because they get to sleep in a little! Zero period will start at 9:00am, there is no Support period, and first(odd)/second(even) period begins at 9:50am. We will have another Late Start Day on September 17, the morning after Back-to-School-Night which is September 16. Make sure to mark these on your calendar NOW so you don't miss quality sleep time! Attached is the full 2015-16 bell/block schedule, which notes these adjusted bell schedules, shows which days are odd or even, and highlights the holidays for the year.

Also, the PFC is sponsoring our first Parent Ed night of the year. We hold these quarterly (more or less) and try to tackle the most pressing topics of high school life today. Our first event will focus on the freshmen transition and how you as parents can help. See below for more details and we hope to see you on campus for this on September 2 at 7pm.

Have a great week!

Principal's Message
Charger Families,

Your PFC donations are hard at work. We have opened our new fitness center (in the G building) that was partly paid for out of PFC funds. PFC funds also paid for a few ROP/CTE sections (both Business Management, and the Microsoft Office class). These courses are part of the business pathway we are trying to build at the site.

We have just installed our new "Genius Bar" in the Media Center which will act as support for students struggling with their laptops or other technology at the site. We have a tech team of students, led my Mrs. Chelsea Rice who will run the Genius Bar and help to troubleshoot issues. This is the first step in converting our Media Center into a facility that allows students to work on projects together, take advantage of technology privileges, and for teachers to use as an instructional facility. The Genius Bar is modeled after what we see in the Apple stores.

We are finalizing the master schedule and balancing classes as we needed to make some minor changes. Students should be in their correct classes by the end of this week. Also, our counseling office hours have shifted to be more available for students and parents. The counseling office will stay open until 4pm each day for student and parents to connect with their counselors.

The first home football game is Friday Sept. 4th, followed by an outdoor dance on the tennis courts (more info about this on the AHS website.).
For Freshmen and Parents
First Parent Ed Night (Students Welcome):
Sept 2, 2015: "Freshmen Fears Abated"
7pm, Room A-1
Come hear a panel of parents, teachers, and students, about what you need to know about Agoura High School - everything from the academics, sports, parties, or social dos and don'ts! You won't want to miss it! Click here for more details.
From The Counseling Office
A counselor will now be available at 7am and from 3-4pm.  The counselors will be on a rotating schedule and will be available during these extended hours to answer general questions and give guidance.
From The Media Center

Students should cover all of their textbooks and keep track of the barcode number they checked out. Please make sure that your child takes care of their textbooks, since the cost of the books range from $50 to $300. Students have two weeks to report and damages beyond normal wear to the Media Center.

Volunteers Needed -
Back to School Lunch
Please help us welcome back our wonderful faculty and staff on Tuesday, September 8, 2015 by volunteering for our back to school lunch. We will need help with set up, serving, clean up, and will also be accepting donations of some of your delicious salads and side dishes. Click here to sign up.

Thank you! We could not do this without your support!
