Canton Museum of Art displays Avondale students' work

Avondale students had an exciting last week!  They enjoyed performances from the 2nd grade music classes, GlenOak High School Notables Choir, Oakwood and GlenOak dancers, and an assembly that included animals from around the world!  Some pictures are below, and others are at the bottom left.  



 

1st Grade to Practice for Celebrate Diversity
1st Graders will travel to GlenOak on Jan. 8th during the school day to practice their music performance for the Celebrate Diversity event at GOHS on Jan. 15th.  Parents, please make sure to let your child's teacher know of his/her t-shirt size by Wednesday Dec. 17th.  

Spirit Week for Adopt a Family
Thank you for your participation.  We raised close to $350 that will be used help several Avondale families for the holidays.

Dec. 19th, the last day before break, will be Pajama Day!

Five Below Fundraiser for PTO

Students in National Sumdog Competition
Second, third, and fourth grade students are participating in a national online math competition.  As of Dec. 15th, Mrs. Case's class was in 42nd place out of 3500 teams.  Good luck!

Family Fitness Challenge Winners

Service Project for Blended 1/2 Class
Students in Miss Dombroski's class made fleece blankets to donate to Akron Children's Hospital patients.




Student Achievements
Trey Lautenschleger (grade 3) and Luke Senften (grade 4) have been selected to join the Plain Local Travel Basketball Team.  They will need to demonstrate great effort and commitment for this honor.

Art Teacher Wins Grant
Sarah Shumaker, Avondale and Middlebranch art teacher, received a $750 grant from ArtsinStark to use with her arts classes at Avondale.  Congratulations!

Please consider donating any gently worn sweat pants to be used when students need a change of clothes during the day.  You may drop off donations in the green and gold box located in the school lobby. 

PTO Corner

PTO Meetings
PTO meets the second Thursday of each month at 7pm in the cafeteria.  The next meeting will be Jan. 8th at 7pm. 

Box Tops, Labels for Education, and Market Day
Please continue to bring in Box Tops and Labels for Education.  Our teachers are able to purchase many items for their classrooms with these programs.

Market Day is a fundraiser that benefits our school greatly
monthly; please consider purchasing some food items from this program.  Items are delivered to the school and can be picked up in the office.
