Re-watching The Secret recently, I was reminded of the simple fact that when you do what brings you joy in life, more of that joy shows up in your life.
My question for you this month is- Are you doing what you enjoy? Every day? Every week? In each of your moments?
When you explore this school of thought, and begin to consider what it is that makes YOU happy, you can begin to make choices, minute by minute and then week by week, and month by month, based on that notion of happiness for you.
Choices may be ones like:
- Do you want to go back to school/try a new job or do you want to continue to work in the field you are in?
- Do you crave an hour or two for yourself each month/week/day or do you really want to continue to give all of your energy away to others and their demands on your time?
Often times, though, it's the "little" choices that pave the way for the real joy to unfold.
Examples:
- Do you want to say yes or no?
- Do you want to eat this or that?
- Do you want to talk to this person or that one?
Note: Choices are based on what you want, not what you think others will want you to do. This takes a little practice if you tend to be a people pleaser. The best way to choose for you is to block everyone out in your mind that may influence your decision- if they weren't there- now, what would you choose? That's usually the answer that is best for your physical, emotional, mental and spiritual health.
When you exercise the muscle that brings you joy by examining the choices you often make, without thinking, in the moments of your day, you might be surprised by where they lead you.
Ask yourself every day this month- Am I doing what brings ME joy?
Contrary to what you might think, when you are doing what you love, the people around you feel that joy overflowing and are often inspired to choose more joy for themselves.
Happy June!

Sugar is Poison by C. Norman Shealy, M.D., Ph.D.
Sucrose was not only the first artificial food; it has also become one of the most pervasive in "modern" culture. There are numerous studies that show sugar as one of the great culprits. With the average person eating more than 152 pounds of sugar each year, sugar has been unequivocally implicated in contributing to:
· Obesity
· Diabetes
· Cancer
· Depression
· Anxiety and hyperactivity
· Atherosclerosis
· Hypertension, heart disease and stroke
· Acne
· Headache
· Fatigue
· Violent behavior
· Immune weakness
It has been reported to be as addicting as heroin! I could go on for days about the problem, but as the walrus said, it is time to speak of many things and none of those about sugar are good! I have not had sucrose in my house since 1970!
