STAND UP AND PADDLE
Most of us know we can paddle while sitting, but it is just as much fun to stand and paddle.
The Smith Mountain Stand Up Paddle Board Race is scheduled for June 29 at Smith Mountain Lake Community Park. The day includes a 3-mile race and demos for those who might not be ready to get on the lake. The race gets underway at 9:30 a.m. with demos following the awards ceremony at noon. Stand up paddle boarding, also known as SUP, is an easy way to play on the water. You don't need a lot of equipment (just a board and paddle) and you can paddle almost anywhere, including on the many lakes and rivers in the Roanoke Region. Learn more and register today >>>
