Have you ever seen a Red Tailed Hawk up close? What about a Great Horned Owl?
On Saturday (March 9, noon-2 p.m), you'll have a chance to learn more about these native creatures.
Nature's Emporium is hosting a meet and greet with Virginia Wildlife.
You'll have the opportunity to meet Chaucer, the Red Tailed Hawk; Clapper, the Great Horned Owl; Tinkerbell, the Virginia Opossum; Lacy, the Eastern Grey Squirrel; and Colonel Corn, the Corn Snake.
When you're done, head up Bent Mountain to explore
Bottom Creek Gorge ... quite possibly one of my favorite hiking areas.
And if you're into music, be sure to catch
Megan Jean and the KFB at Martin's (Saturday night). I discovered Megan Jean at
FloydFest last summer, where she was the winner of the Under The Radar competition (people's choice award). Her sound and energy blew me away. Speaking of Floyd Fest ... we'll be giving away a pair of four-day passes each month (March-May) beginning next week.
And don't forget to set your clocks forward Sunday.
Get outside!
