This Summer, tackle the most important issues in modern health with Harvest Market. When the local produce barely needs any prep to jump from counter to plate, who needs MSG and corn syrup? Summer is the perfect time to eliminate toxins from your diet.
We spent July discussing sugar: its health effects, and strategies to reduce or eliminate it. This week, we look at dairy products: why organic matters, why grass-feeding matters, and what dairy alternatives work for you. Join us this Thursday, August 30 for milk and milk alternative tastings; Friday, August 31 for cultured dairy and non-dairy tastings; and Saturday, September 1 to taste a variety of cheeses.
We are also making pizza all week! Stop in to try traditional and gluten-free/dairy-free pies topped with all manner of delicious, healthy ingredients. All samples run from 12 noon until 7 pm each day.

Another effective option for bug bites is to apply a paste of bentonite clay, maybe mixed with lavender and tea tree oil, to draw out insect venom. Bentonite clay is available in our bulk aisle and also makes a fantastic detoxifying face mask- mix with honey and yogurt for ultimate pampering. There is even a local connection with this clay: Kaolin clay, or white clay, is a staple of our area!

"The Business End"
Understand the stakes of Genetic Engineering and share with others with this 30-minute video, Seeds of Freedom.
Dr. Mercola has followers and naysayers, but we have to hand it to him for putting his life's work out on a limb to expose "health" industry special interests and their ties to economic global domination. His reporting on vaccines is scrupulous. Decisions to vaccinate belong to each individual and family. The difficulty obtaining truthful information is our real concern. How fortunate we are to have relatively free access to information. Please keep working toward health honesty in each small way- our efforts add up.
Bringing organic food to everyone involves big business. The New York Times recently took a look at the business of organic. Your dollars decide which companies thrive. When you ask for accountability and make shopping choices accordingly, business listens!
Canola Oil is a great example of questionable food marketing at work. Fats and oils are crucial parts of a healthy diet- make sure yours are on your side.
