To a theater near you?
If your church or other organization would like to sponsor
Hell and Mr. Fudge in your town, here's the basic information:

Plan A

Send an email to jww@me.com with the name and contact phone number of the manager of the target theater. We will make initial contact with the theater and discuss the possibility of a regular booking for a full one-week run. We will handle all the technical details. Your role would be to provide local promotion by distribution posters, cards, press releases, etc.

If the theater will not book the movie, we move to Plan B.

Plan B

You rent the theater. Best bets are independent theaters, some of which are non-profit community theaters. But some of the big multiplex theaters do rent for special events.

You rent the film for $240 and, if the theater uses the new digital projection equipment, you cover the $150 fee for the movie files provided by Technicolor.

You benefit from ticket sales, recouping all, or a major portion of, your costs.

Advertising and Promotion

We provide you with printable poster files for printing in various sizes, from large theater-size versions to bulletin-board sizes. There is no charge for these files, but you will need to have the printing done locally.

We have postcard-size handouts that you can obtain from us at minimal expense. You can imprint these with your local information.

We also provide a media information package.

Technical Details

In both Plan A and Plan B we will handle all legal and technical details with the theater.

Fox theater report

Saturday night, January 19, was the high-water mark so far for Hell and Mr. Fudge. An hour before showtime a crowd of 200-300 people waited for the ticket window to open at the magnificent old Fox Theater in downtown Bakersfield, CA - a popular venue for live concerts and other special events. The marquee blazed brilliantly, announcing "Hell & Mr. Fudge Film Screening." The doors opened and the large lobby was soon jammed with popcorn-buyers lining up to get theirs before the movie began.

By the time the lights went down and the large screen lit up with the opening scene, ticket sales had surpassed 1300.

MacKenzie Astin ("Edward Fudge"), Wes Robertson ("Joe Mark"), and Cody Sullivan (young "Edward") joined the crowd, along with executive producer Pat Arrabito, producer/director Jeff Wood, and co-producer Jim Wood. After the movie ended Pat Arrabito introduced the others and the audience asked questions for about 20 minutes.

The Fox is much larger than most venues where the movie plays. In Denver the previous week Hell and Mr. Fudge played to large crowds in two different theaters. The movie also went "home" to Athens, AL for a one-week run at the local multiplex cinema. Athens is where it was filmed in June of 2011.

We continue our efforts to book theaters and other venues for March and April dates, so if you want to get involved please send an email to jww@me.com.

  • "Finally able to see it...and was completely blown away!"
  • "A great film! I was happy to see some really good acting and a good script, which was well-written with good use of charm and humor, too, to lighten things up at appropriate times."
  • "The movie went beyond my expectations.  The production values...are outstanding, and for me personally, brought an underlying credibility to the whole story, the feel, and the overall experience."
  • "I had the pleasure of seeing the movie this past weekend with several friends. What a blessing! It was a packed house!"
  • "It was worth every penny. Every person on earth should watch it. It's that good."
  • "The film captures the ambiance of some quirky church affairs quite fairly, I thought, without villianizing unnecessarily; I think this is quite an accomplishment in itself.  It tells the story of the annihilationist viewpoint rather simply, in view of the complexity that could be involved.  And I think that is commendable and opens up the issue for fair consideration.
But it is the humanity and the ethics of Edward Fudge that comes through, and I think that message overshadows the rest of your story, and I think that is just fine.  His life and character are worthy of the treatment in film, and if this is an attempt at fostering faith in Jesus Christ as well as a view of hell, this film serves that well.   And it does this without preaching.  Amazing."(Kenneth Mick)
  • It's a thought-provoking presentation that encourages further examination."
  • "Thoughtful, challenging, and well-made."
  • "Must process and pray."
  • "I am always open to the truth. I want to know what both sides base their ideas on in more detail."
  • "Well done - great springboard for discussion."
  • "This film is fabulous. It held my attention all the way through."
  • "Very informative, spell binding movie for all people."
  • "Fantastic - humor mixed with truth & excellent acting!"
  • "This was a spiritual, uplifting movie. I would highly recommend it."
  • "This is a far more interesting and compelling film about Christianity than "Courageous," which somehow feels the need to make its protagonists like action figures."
  • "Great movie. Very enjoyable. It will appeal to the churched - but, it could open some doors as is to the unchurched."
  • "I grew up Catholic and I always had this belief that if God loved us so much, how could he allow us to burn in HELL. This movie was reconfirming of my beliefs since I was a child. I have never been able to prove that notion and this movie is very confirming in that which I can't wait to share with my family and friends."  media
