THANKS AND RECAP OF SCHOOL "NEON GLOW" DANCE

Over 500 people showed up for a super fun time at the school dance on Friday!  The black light photo booth was a big hit with both kids and parents...and teachers!  Check out more pics on our Facebook Page!

A special thank you to Laura Dover for taking pictures all night, and making the fun props along with Stacy Hatch.  Another special thanks to Valdene Claux for helping co chair this event and for generously donating many of the snacks. Thank you also to over 35 volunteers who helped set up, clean up and staff both the ticket lines and the concessions table.  Two volunteers even won a Starbucks card from the PTA in a volunteer drawing at the dance.

This was my first time chairing an event and I was so impressed how smoothly over 35 volunteers worked together from set up to clean up. Without your hard work at this event we would not be able to create these positive lasting memories for the children. When you volunteer it teaches our children there is value in being involved in our community. Those lessons are the foundation for our children to take with them as they grow and become volunteers themselves.

So, thank you from the Rockwell PTA. Your time and effort is greatly appreciated and I look forward to getting to know more of you at future events.

If you are interested in planning for next year's events please let me know. I am looking for a Co-VP of Events as well as chairs (or co-chairs) of various events for next year.

Jennifer Myrick, VP Events

PS:

FOUND at the dance: A smart phone. Please email me to describe and claim.

LOST at the dance: Plants vs. Zombies book. Please return to Principal Gometz and she will return to the owner.

PTA ANNOUNCEMENTS

  • Come join us at this Thursday's PTA General Membership Meeting (3/26) at 7pm in the school library!

  • Many Thanks to Beth McIntire for her service on our PTA Board as Rockwell's VP of Volunteer Services for much of the 2014/2015 school year! She has coordinated various special meals for teacher birthdays, kindergarten registration, open house day for staff, and much more. While she has to step down from her role at this time, she has appointed her current (and very capable) room parent chair to take over. We welcome Ami King as acting VP of Volunteer Services until she is voted in at the PTA General Membership meeting this Thursday.
  • We're happy to announce we finally have an ice cream social chair...actually two! Kudos to two Rockwell Dads (Kristian Aasgaarden and Michael Dorman) for stepping up to co-chair this event in May!  Be on the lookout soon for details and volunteer needs!
  • Attention Techies:  PTA is looking for someone to make an updated short video (about Rockwell PTA and Pass The Hat) that is shown to parents at Curriculum night. Any interest?  Contact Cari Scotkin.
  • Please Register TODAY for your account on the New PTA Website. Starting next year, most of the first day packet will be online and donating to Pass The Hat and ordering spirit wear, yearbooks and event tickets will be easy as 1,2,3!
  • Be on the lookout in the next few days for a Special Edition Bugle announcing available PTA positions for the next school year. Rockwell PTA's Board is looking to fill some key board positions for the next school year. Additionally,  non-board positions will be announced. (These are typically chairperson(s) of various events, after-school clubs, committees etc.)  What's the difference? Board members typically attend a monthly meeting (held in the evenings, to accommodate working parents) to go over grant requests and discuss other PTA-related topics, in addition to their regular duties. Please let anyone on the current board know if you have any questions about any of the positions. Come be an important part of your child's school community!  We can't do it without all of you.
ECOLOGY RUN IS THIS WEDS...GET THOSE PLEDGE FORMS IN!

The Ecology Run is THIS Weds (3/25) at lunch recess...please turn in your pledge forms asap (or at least by Friday). Need a new one? Click Here.

  • The funds raised by ALL students will help 5th graders go to camp this year, where they learn about our northwest ecology!
  • The kindergarten through fourth grade class that raises the most money will earn a PIZZA PARTY!
  • Students will collect flat pledges prior to running laps at the Ecology Run.
    • Students who raise $30 or more will receive a 2015 Ecology Run T-shirt
    • Students who raise $50 or more will receive the T-shirt and their name will be added to the "Hall of Fame" plaque by the office
    • Students who raise $100 or more will receive the T-shirt, be added to the "Hall of Fame", and receive a trophy at the awards assembly in June
  • All donations are eligible for corporate matching - if your company participates in a matching program, please consider matching your gift.
    • Simply note: "ASB-Outdoor Education" to designate the payment to the correct account.

The donations are all flat donations - they are not based on the number of laps that are run. We encourage every child at Rockwell to participate if possible - because eventually every child will become a fifth grader and receive these benefits for their own Outdoor Ed camp experience. In the past we have raised over $10,000 - which is an amazing help to offset the cost of the trip!

The fifth grade teachers will be outside during lunch recess on Wednesday, March 25th to facilitate the run. All pledges need to be received by Friday, March 27th.

If you have any questions, please contact Fifth Grade Teacher,

Mrs. Weinmeister at [email protected].

Thank you so much for supporting our students and participating in the Ecology Run!
