Applicants Sought for Board Vacancy: Applications Due May 20, 2016

District 41 Board of Education (BOE) Secretary Dean Elger resigned effective June 13, 2016 because he and his family are moving out of the District. The BOE is now seeking a qualified individual to fill the vacant seat until the next BOE election in April, 2017, when the seat will be on the ballot for a four-year term.

Interested residents are encouraged to submit an application of interest to the BOE by 4:30 p.m. on May 20, 2016. The statement should explain why the applicant is interested in being appointed for the vacancy (applicants may wish to include a little about his or her skills, experiences and qualifications) and the applicant's contact information. As part of the selection process, applicants may be asked to attend an interview with the BOE between May 24, 2016 and June 15, 2016.

To be eligible, an applicant must be a US citizen who is at least 18 years old, has lived within district boundaries for at least one year, and who is a registered voter.

Statements of interest may be submitted two ways: use the online submission form or request a paper application from Board Recording Secretary Nancy Mogk by email, fax (630 790 1867) or US Mail to Glen Ellyn School District 41, 793 N. Main St., Glen Ellyn, IL 60137.

About the Board of Education

The BOE hires the Superintendent, sets instructional policy, approves the budget and ongoing expenditures, and is ultimately responsible for the performance of the District.

The BOE generally meets on alternate Mondays at 7 p.m., although special meetings may be called as required.
