Emergency Preparedness

The bomb threat at Churchill School earlier this week reminds all of us about the importance of being prepared for emergencies. Please make sure all of your information is updated in Skyward Family Access. In addition, we are adding text messaging as a way to communicate about emergencies, school closures, etc.

The ability for the district to text message in the event of an emergency or school closure will begin in December. If you are a parent and would like to receive emergency messages on your cell phone via text (in addition to email and voicemail), please follow the below steps:

  1. Log on to Family Access - CLICK HERE
  2. Click the Skylert button on the left.
  3. The Skyward contacts screen will appear for the different types of notifications. Scroll to the bottom of the screen and enter your cell phone number(s) in the "Text Message" section.
  4. Click Save.
In the event of a weather related school closure, the district also notifies the Emergency Closing Center, Emergencyclosingcenter.com. The Emergency Closing Center notifies all of the local media outlets of school closures.

New Website Coming Soon

Over the past six months, District 41 has been working with SchoolWires to create a new website. The new District 41 website and all school sites will go-live on Monday, November 30, 2015. A website project is never "done." We will be updating and changing the content of the website on a regular basis.

If you have any feedback about the new website, please email webmaster@d41.org.
