Hello Lincoln Parents,

Lincoln School is a very busy place these days! Please take a moment to read over the announcements below.

High Interest Day 2015

What a great day! Once again High Interest Day (HID) was a huge success. A special thank you goes out to Sue Rossy and her entire committee for taking on this fantastic event. Earlier in the school year, students were given an overview of the planned sessions and were asked to list their top picks. It is a mammoth undertaking to create schedules that consist of six different sessions for each of our L2 and L3 students. It was done and every child's schedule included a few of their top picks! Thank you HID committee!

I also want to acknowledge and thank all of our parents and volunteers that taught and supported this event. It could not have happened without you.

Be sure to ask your children what they did in school today. I bet they won't say "nothing."

Lincoln Ribbon Cutting and Open House - Tomorrow (Saturday) from 9:00-9:45am

Please take a few minutes to stop by Lincoln School tomorrow morning to see our new classrooms. This event starts at 9:00am and children are welcomed to attend. Dr. Paul Gordon, Mike Formento (Executive Director of the Glen Ellyn Chamber of Commerce), several school board members, teachers, and students will all take part in the ribbon cutting ceremony.

We would love to have a huge crowd! Please consider starting your day tomorrow with a quick visit to Lincoln. We LOVE our new space!

5Essentials Survey

Please take a few minutes to provide us with feedback by taking the 5Essential Survey. This survey is based on the Five Essentials for School Success, an evidence-based framework developed by the University of Chicago. The information we receive from the survey will help us identify how our school performs on five factors or "essentials." This feedback will help Lincoln staff identify areas of strengths and opportunities for improvement.

The 5Essentials are:

  • Effective Leadership
  • Collaborative Teachers
  • Involved Families
  • Supportive Environment
  • Ambitious Instruction

Thank you in advance to taking this survey.  CLICK HERE and select the appropriate survey to begin.

The survey is available now through March 13, 2015.

Science Night-Next Thursday

Another great PTA event is coming up! This "don't miss" event starts at 6:30pm this coming Thurday. Hands-on science stations will be set up all over the building. It's as much fun for the adults as it is for the kids. Hope to see you there!

Valentines-No Candy Please

I'm sure your children will be asking you to buy valentines for their classmates soon. As a reminder, please do not include or purchase valentines that come with candy. Thank you in advance for your cooperation.

Spelling Bee Winners

Wow, Lincoln School has some amazing spellers! I was so impressed with our students and secretly glad that I was not competing against them. Being a judge and telling a student that a word was spelled incorrectly was a tough job. I know how hard the students practiced in preparation for this event. I am proud of each and every student that participated. You are all winners in my book!

Primary Grades Winner: Nathan Schlieben

All School Winner: Mihir Sharma

Again thanks to PTA for sponsoring this event.

Mihir Sharma will be representing Lincoln School as a member of the A.B.E team at this year's Spellapoolza Fund Raiser for GECRC.

Thanks for being such a supportive community!

Linda
