Take the 5Essentials Survey

Last week, all parents and teachers were sent information about the Illinois Board of Education 5Essentials survey. Thank you to all who have already participated. We are off to a great start!

The 5Essentials survey is presented by the Illinois State Board of Education and is administered by UChicago Impact. This survey is based on the Five Essentials for School Success, an evidence-based framework developed by the University of Chicago. This framework identifies how school performance on five factors or "essentials" can lead to important student outcomes, including improved attendance and larger test score gains.

The 5Essentials are:
  • Effective Leaders
  • Collaborative Teachers
  • Involved Families
  • Supportive Environment
  • Ambitious Instruction

To take the survey, CLICK HERE and select the appropriate survey to begin.

The survey is available now through March, 13, 2015.

New Assessment - PARCC is Coming

This spring, students in grades 3-8 in the State of Illinois will be taking a new assessment test .  The test known as PARCC, stands for Partnership for Assessment of Readiness for College and Careers.  PARCC's intent is to measure a student's knowledge and understanding of the Common Core State Standards, which were written for English Language Arts and Math. As a district, we have been working to implement the Common Core Standards for the past few years.
