Dear Forest Glen Families,

Below are a few reminder about the Halloween Parade and Parties, Parent-Teacher Conferences, and Volunteering:

Parent Volunteers

This year, we will be training all of our new parent volunteers before they volunteer in the classroom, the library, the office, and at room parties.  We will welcome you as a volunteer and review the "dos" and "don'ts" of volunteering.  After parent volunteers attend their training session, they will have a name tag made that can be worn each time they are in the building.  Please contact the school office to make an appointment for training prior to your first day of volunteering.  If you were trained as a volunteer last year, you will need to sign a new confidentiality agreement and review the volunteer "dos" and "don'ts" prior to volunteering.

Halloween Costumes, Parade and Party Information, and Treat Reminders

Costume Requirements:  Students may not wear masks or headgear which obscure identity or create a safety concern, costume paraphernalia, such as theatrical props, imitation or real weapons, gruesome or bloody articles, and costumes and/or make up which are considered threatening or otherwise inappropriate.   Students should not wear revealing clothing articles, short skirts/shorts, spaghetti straps or halters, and should have their midriffs covered at all times.  Metal, plastic, or rubber cleats, shoes with wheels, or other shoes that may damage the floors may not be worn.  Scooters, skateboards, rollerblades, skates, play equipment, and electronic devices may not be used as part of a costume.

The 18th annual pumpkin parade will be held on Friday, October 31.  AM Kindergarten and AM Early Childhood students wear their costumes in the morning.  The Early Childhood parade and party will take place between 10:00 - 11:00 AM and the AM Kindergarten parade and party will take place between 10:30 - 11:30 AM.   Students staying for lunch (12:40 - 1:35 PM) should bring their costumes in a bag marked clearly with their names.  Our lunch staff will help these students with costumes.  PM Kindergarten and PM Early Childhood students should come in costume and will attend their regular afternoon session.  Students in grades 1 - 5 who go home for lunch should return by 1:35 PM for attendance.  The Pumpkin Parade will start at 1:45 PM and parties will follow the parade time.  Click on the link in this e-mail for more detailed information.

Our room parents are finalizing games and activities for this fun filled event.  As a gentle reminder, please remember that only assigned room parents are allowed to be in the classroom for parties.  Also, please do not send candy or other treats to school with your child to hand out at the parties.  Only food on our approved snack list may be served.  Thank you in advance for your cooperation.

Conferences

Parent Teacher Conferences are scheduled for November 5, 6, and 7.  We are hoping for 100% participation.  If you have not had an opportunity to sign up for a conference yet, please log into Skyward Family Access to do so as soon as possible.  If you need assistance, please contact the school office or your child's teacher.

Hope to see you tomorrow at the parade and next week during conferences.
