RECEPTION FOR DR. GORDON AUG. 26 - please come!

7 p.m. at Hadley Junior High School

Community members are invited to an informal reception for Superintendent Dr. Paul Gordon at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 26. The reception will be held in Hadley's newly renovated Library Media Center (LMC); if the weather is good, attendees will also be able to enjoy the adjacent courtyard. Dr. Gordon joined District 41 on July 1, coming here from Adams 12, a large district near Denver, CO. The reception will be followed by the regular Board of Education meeting at 7:30 p.m., also in the Hadley LMC. Hadley Junior High School is located at 240 Hawthorne Blvd., Glen Ellyn. 
Please come for light treats and a chance to chat with Dr. Gordon.

SCHOOL STARTS MONDAY, AUG. 26
The first day of school is Monday, Aug. 26 for students in kindergarten through eighth grade, and is a regular school day. Prekindergarten begins on Wednesday, Aug. 28.

GLEN ELLYN AQUATICS INITIATIVE FUNDRAISER
The Glen Ellyn Aquatics Initiative (GEAI) is a collaboration of community members, swim parents, and professional supporters who have a shared vision to add an indoor aquatics facility to recreation options in Glen Ellyn. Meatheads restaurant will donate to GEAI 10% of net sales made anytime on Monday, Aug. 26. Meatheads is located at 549 E Roosevelt Rd., Glen Ellyn, (630) 469-1111. CANCERPALOOZA SATURDAY, SEPT. 21

The LiveLikeKatie Foundation (LLK) announces Cancerpalooza, a fundraiser for cancer research at Maryknoll Park in Glen Ellyn, Saturday, Sept. 21, 2:00-10:30 p.m. LLK was established to honor the memory of Katie Vogg, a longtime resident of Glen Ellyn who died in 2011 from a rare form of cancer. Cancerpalooza will be a continuous live music festival; Tap House restaurateur Danny Wronkowski will be serving up refreshments. Tickets are $40 prior to Sept. 15 and $50 after Sept. 15. Once costs are covered for this event, 100% of the proceeds will support the ongoing cancer research at the University of Chicago Cancer Research Center.
