THINK TANK FORUM ON SATURDAY
Saturday, March 9, there will be a community forum on the District 41 Think Tank proposals. These proposals are intended to better prepare students for success in the 21st century and will be on the March 11 Board of Education (BOE) meeting agenda for action.
The forum is a Special BOE Meeting, and will begin with a call to order, pledge and roll call. Before the Think Tank portion starts, there will be public participation for other matters. The forum is an opportunity for community members to ask questions about the proposals and Superintendent Dr. Ann Riebock and Assistant Superintendent for Teaching, Learning and Accountability Karen Carlson will be on hand to provide answers. To help make sure that as many questions as possible are answered, participants will be provided with index cards and pencils to submit their questions.
If you haven't visited the Think Tank Web site recently, information has been posted that pertains to the implementation process: Next Steps addresses things like conferences, Pinnacle and curriculum nights; the PD Plan lays out initial professional development through the start of the school year; the Tech Plan documents specific needs for things like iPads; and Student Placement Process gives the timeline and considerations involved in placing students, both quantitative and social-emotional factors.
NOTE: Babysitting will be available at the forum. We regret that we cannot accommodate infants or children who are not toilet trained. If you plan to take advantage of this free service, please email Julie Worthen with the number and ages of the children who will be with you no later than Friday (today) at noon (use "babysitting" as the subject line of your email).
