STEVE DIVELEY NAMED HADLEY PRINCIPAL EFFECTIVE JULY 1

On Monday, the Board of Education approved the appointment of Steve Diveley as the principal of Hadley Junior High effective July 1. Mr. Diveley will be replacing Dr. Chris Dransoff who is retiring June 30. Mr. Diveley was chosen from a field of 98 candidates after a rigorous selection process that included input from staff, parents and students.

 

Mr. Diveley began his career in education as a history teacher at Waukegan High School in 1994.  He taught in Waukegan for two years before moving to Richmond as a middle school geography and science teacher. Following his time in Richmond, he taught geography at Shepard Middle School in Deerfield.

 

In 2000, Mr. Diveley became the assistant principal at Woodland Middle School in Gurnee and then served as assistant principal at Scullen Middle School in Naperville.

 

For the last eight years, Mr. Diveley has been the principal at Heritage Middle School in Plainfield School District 202. Under his leadership, the school earned recognition as an Illinois Horizon School to Watch from the Association of Illinois Middle Schools in 2010 and is being considered for the award again in 2013. The school was also named an Illinois Honor Roll school in 2009 and 2010. Mr. Diveley serves on the executive board of the Association of Illinois Middle Schools.

 

Mr. Diveley earned his undergraduate degree from Central Michigan University with a Bachelor's of Science in History with a minor in Earth Science and his master's degree from Northeastern University in Administrative Leadership.
