Customer of
the Month

Our April Customer of the Month is Catrina Howard of Waterloo.

Favorite Hansen's product:
"My daughter's favorite are the waffle cones and my favorite are the cheese curds. My daughter wears your ice cream all over her face!"

Why do you shop at Hansen's?
"We love the welcome that we get when we walk in. There are always smiles and the yummy smells bring smiles to our faces!"

Thanks, Catrina!

Customers of the Month get a $5 gift certificate and a vehicle decal for being featured in our newsletter.

Congrats to our big CA$H COW winners last month!
Nancy and Nick Barsic of Hudson found a $100 jug.

We also had several $5 winners, including Maria Meza, Waterloo; Will Carter, Cedar Falls; Justin Tagtow, Cedar Falls; Brad Wells, Waterloo; and Izzy Davis, Waterloo. These winners had the luck of the Irish on their side in March!

In April, we will mark 3 jugs with $100 (look inside the jug at your label when it's empty). Since we mark them at the beginning of the month, your best chance to find a large prize is in the next few days!

Remember, there are still 10 jugs EVERY WEEK marked with a $5.00 prize. View details here on our website.

Cow of the Month

The April Cow of the Month is Blosum. She will celebrate her 2nd birthday next week on April 7.

Blosum is one of the youngest cows in the milking herd after calving in for the first time three weeks ago. She has the characteristics to produce a lot of milk in her lifetime. Blosum is a nice-looking individual with a great temperament. She's already producing 8 gallons of milk a day.

Happy birthday to Blosum!

Welcome sight

Happy spring! This was the view outside our window on the farm on March 31. April ushers in warmer weather, NCAA Final Four action, the Easter holiday, farmers preparing their land for planting and the opening of our farm tour season. We hope all of our customers have a wonderful month!

Schedule your
farm tour

Looking for something unique to do? Come out to our farm for a hands-on tour. You can take a trolley ride around the farm, milk a cow, bottle-feed a calf, pet kangaroos and goats, make your own butter and enjoy our tasty products. Hansen's Farm Fresh Dairy is proud to be part of the local food movement and we enjoy showing people how our milk gets from the cow to their table. Hands-on tours take place at 3:30 p.m. Monday through Saturday (by appointment only). Reserve your spot today by calling (319) 939-2187.

We get a lot of questions about how to prepare the Hansen Hams. There's a basic recipe that we supply - bake at 325 for a couple of hours (until it reaches an internal temp of 140 degrees) with the ham sitting in a 1/4 inch of water or apple juice. But there are so many other delicious ways to prepare a ham, for Easter or any other meal. Here is a compilation of some of our favorites from other sources. Keep in mind, these are recipes for Hansen fully cooked hams.
