INTERNATIONAL WEEK: CALL FOR VOLUNTEERS

SEMAINE INTERNATIONALE: APPEL AUX VOLONTAIRES

This year, San Diego French-American School will organize International Week instead of the traditional Francophonie Week. During International Week, students will not only discover countries where French is spoken, but they will also be able to learn about many other countries of the world.

International week will kick off at the Forum on Thursday, March 19.

A committee has been set up to prepare the program of the week. One of the highlights will be an International Fair. We would like to invite parents of the school to present their country by holding a booth on a specific day during the week. The booths will be in the auditorium and would display pictures, maps, artifacts and food samples from the various countries presented.

Please contact Stéphanie in the office if you would like to volunteer. Simply give your name and the country you would like to present. The international committee will then send you details.

The Farmraiser program consists of purchasing bags of local, organic and seasonal produce weekly or every other week. The produce is harvested from

LE NOUVEAU PROGRAMME DE MUSIQUE: UN GRAND SUCCÈS!
THE NEW MUSIC PROGRAM AT SDFAS: A GREAT SUCCESS!

First graders are enjoying learning about rhythm and percussion during their weekly music workshop.

Greetings!

With February around the corner, we can look forward to participating in many upcoming events at school. Tomorrow, January 30, the State of the School address is from 8 to 9:30 a.m. in the auditorium. The board of trustees, the administration and parents will  share their ideas and future projects and discuss the school's strategic plan while you enjoy coffee and croissants.

The jog-a-thon, is the opportunity for SDFAS to raise funds for sports projects and to give back to the community. Parents from all grades can enjoy the morning on campus while supporting their children running for a good cause. As usual, the school will donate a portion of the proceeds to local charities that benefit children.

And finally, we will gather for the always fun Talent Show, where our students will perform their talents on stage in front of a captivated and encouraging audience. Watch for news in our next Echo about the upcoming Asian New Year Festival and International Week.

Communications Officer

ANNUAL SDFAS JOG-A-THON

LE JOG-A-THON 2015

This year's jog-a-thon will take place on Friday, February 6. The students are training hard and getting excited to test their endurance while raising funds for charity (50%) and SDFAS sports and recess equipment (50%)!

Pledge forms will be sent home for you to support our young athletes. You can sponsor them "per lap" or by donating a "flat fee" for the event.

The jog-a-thon is a great time to build community within our school and within San Diego through our commitment to charity.

We need  parent volunteers to help with cutting fruit and serving drinks. We also would like to encourage you to come out and cheer for the students as they participate in this annual school wide event!!

MINI-FORUM - INVITEZ VOS AMIS

MINI-FORUM - BRING A FRIEND

The next "Mini-Forum" will take place next Wednesday, February 4th at 8:45 a.m., in the auditorium. Performances will be by the PK0 and PK1 classes.

What is Mini Forum?

The Mini-Forum is a short presentation of songs, dances and/or videos of and by the students. The goal is to allow students to become comfortable on stage and in front of an audience. Each time, only a few classes are represented, but throughout the year, all pre-elementary classes will have their turn at performing.

On this occasion, the Admission Office invites all parents to "bring a friend" who may be interested in seeing your child perform and in visiting our school. We will be able to schedule appointments for individual tours. If you plan to bring a friend, please send us an email: admissions@sdfrenchschool.org.

Thank you!

MIDDLE SCHOOL TOWN MEETING: CHARACTER EDUCATION

RÉUNION-DÉBAT AU COLLÈGE: EDUCATION CIVIQUE

Last week, all Middle School students participated in the first of what we hope to be many "town meetings," in which students will have the opportunity to express their views, concerns, and ideas about the SDFAS community.  The goal of these meetings is to generate positive community spirit by providing a forum for students to meaningfully offer their input and take greater ownership over their daily life on campus. These meetings also provide opportunities for teachers to lead discussions on critical issues affecting student life, such as our goals for students' moral and ethical citizenship.

Teachers and student delegates took part in acting out several skits, designed to demonstrate how students can not only identify various "bullying" behaviors, but can actively and positively insert themselves into situations as "allies," with the courage to challenge hurtful behavior and model morally and ethically responsible citizenship.

We hope the students took away valuable lessons from yesterday's town meeting, and look forward to more active discussions in the future!
