Il a neigé sur le Mont Soledad
It even snows in San Diego!
Today, we surprised our community by making it snow on Mount Soledad. Our school was transformed into a Winter Wonderland by Dr.Bronner's magical fire truck. The children were thrilled to see the "snow," an organic product that does not harm the environment.

As the warm and sunny days are lingering, and the beaches are still populated with sunbathers and surfers, it's difficult to realize December has come and the holiday season is upon us. Reading the
Echo today will help bring us some winter spirit: the snow storm at school this morning, the Marché de Noël, the La Jolla Christmas Parade, the winter shows.... These are just a few of the highlights coming up before the next holiday break that will allow you to spend some well-deserved time with your friends and family!
As 2015 is less than a month away, I am already planning for next school year. The French-American international schools are growing every year. We are now 53 schools, and 10 in the state of California. The latest count is 24,000 students in our North American schools! In 2015, SDFAS will continue its mission, and focus on two main objectives: the quality of education and the quality of the learning environment. We are making sure your children benefit every day from a well-structured and strong academic program administered in an atmosphere that makes them feel respected as students and citizens of the world. Their days are infused with the joy to learn in a community that values tolerance, open-mindedness and intercultural appreciation.
Christian Jarlov,
Head of School
Chers parents,

This Friday, December 5th, starting at 2 p.m. bring your friends, neighbors and relatives to San Diego French-American School to enjoy the annual Marché de Noël.
With more than 50 vendor booths, this year's Marché is a great place to purchase unique gifts and to show your support to local small businesses. You will find: jewelry, art, holiday décor and cards, specialty foods and eco-friendly, locally-sourced clothing.
Shopping aside, it is also a chance for your child to explore his/her artsy side in our Art Corner. They (and you!) can take silly pictures at the dress up booth, enjoy live, festive music and have dinner with your neighbors at the heated food court.
Attractions like the bouncy houses and trackless train are also awaiting you along with a Game Truck, which has been added to the fun to accommodate our older kids and Middle Schoolers as well as game-savvy parents.
Make sure to bring cash (our student vendors don't accept credit cards!), your gift list and a hungry tummy.
Curious about our vendors? Click here for the complete list of vendors
Where will the vendors be located? Click here for the map of vendors
Let's eat and be merry together! It's a community event- invite your community!
PARENT VOLUNTEERS
We still need a lot of volunteers to make this event a fun and successful one! We will need supervisors for the bouncy house, craft table helpers, information booth representatives and, of course, supreme decorators.
Please contact the PA at: sdfasmarchedenoel@gmail.com
with the subject line: VOLUNTEER.
Thank you in advance for getting involved.

Rester propre, ça s'apprend jeune!
The students in Pre-K and Kindergarten learned how to stay healthy and avoid absenteeism by washing their hands and covering their coughs.
The SDFAS Nurse, Genesis Bojorquez taught them why, how, and when it is necessary to wash their hands.
Genesis demonstrated how and then watched each individual child's hand washing process. The students also learned that while washing they can either count to 20 or sing the Happy Birthday song which satisfies the required length of time (about 20 seconds) needed to rid the hands of harmful germs that can cause illness.
They also learned why and how germs make us sick and how washing hands regularly can keep us healthy. At then end of Genesis' presentation, the students received "Happy Hands are Clean Hands" certificates for their participation, and a free soap sample given by Dr. Bronner's organic soap company. Please encourage your child to continue these healthy habits at home.
