November 2012

Greetings!
Jonathan Haidt
How did emotions influence the outcomes of Tuesday's elections?

In an exclusive day-after Q&A, moral psychologist Jonathan Haidt (right) says Republicans and Democrats are worse than ever in understanding and communicating with each other.

The solutions, he says, are a dose of empathy, a willingness to drop faulty assumptions, and a time-limited offer of bipartisanship from President Obama.

Check Out the Rebooted Greater Good!
The science of gratitude. Ways to practice mindfulness. Tips for raising happy kids.

This is what draws you to Greater Good. But you've told us that these and other subjects are too hard to find on our site.

That's why we decided to upgrade
Greater Good's design, with changes that should make it easier for you to find what you're looking for.

Here's what you can find on the rebooted Greater Good:
  • A redesigned homepage, which includes new features like a Tip of the Week and Book of the Week.
  • New navigation tabs, directing readers to our articles, videos, quizzes, tips, and other content that falls within our key areas of coverage, including Family & Couples, Education, and Mind & Body
  • A Big Ideas tab--a source for thoughtful, provocative articles that challenge conventional wisdom.
  • Pages featuring our Core Themes, including Mindfulness, Happiness and Compassion.
  • Overviews of what these themes mean, why they're worth practicing, and how they can be cultivated.
  • Updated resources pages that list the key books, studies, and organizations related to our work, providing a clearinghouse of essential resources.
We'd love to get your feedback. Feel free to post comments as you click along, post a message to our Facebook page, or send us an email with your thoughts.

Thank you for being a part of the (rebooted) Greater Good!
