Bet you didn't know: fun facts about the Cayman Islands

We have a Did You Know section on our website featuring Cayman Islands trivia to help you get better acquainted with our beautiful island. But here are a few facts we've just added that you might find interesting...

  • A Caymanian will often be introduced by his or her first name (such as "Mr. Tom" or "Miss Lucy"). Why? Because of the large number of people with similar surnames we have here.
  • Archaeological studies of Grand Cayman have found no evidence that humans occupied the islands prior to the sixteenth century.
  • Our first settlers: pirates, refugees from the Spanish Inquisition, shipwrecked sailors and slaves.
  • Residents of the Cayman Islands pay no income tax.
  • The average temperature in Cayman is 78°F in the winter and 86°F in the summer.
