Dear Friends,
Okay, so it's STILL snowing & freezing cold, and it's March! Who would have imagined that we may be wearing snow boots with our Purim costumes?!? Well, nothing will stop children and adults alike from the upcoming celebration commemorating the deliverance of the Jewish people from Haman's evil plot to destroy them in the ancient Persian Empire. After the wicked Haman's plan to kill all of the Jews in the empire was foiled by Mordechai & Esther, this day has become a day of feasting and rejoicing. And, oh, the fun we will have as we wear costumes, read the Megillah - making sure to twirl our noisy graggers whenever Haman's name is read, exchanging Mishloach Manot, eating hamentashen, and generally celebrating and rejoicing. Be sure to join the community at a host of Purim related events, including; Tot Shabbat, Purim Costume Karaoke, Saturday Night Live for Young Adults, music & magic party for adults and children, and a pirate-themed carnival. All of these events are listed in our "Events This Month" section below.
Next month we will be getting ready for Passover, and all that comes with that special holiday. Be sure to read our newsletters each month, for all of the goings-on around Hudson County and beyond.
As always, if we can be of assistance or if you have an idea for a program or event, please do not hesitate to reach out to us at Info@HudsonJewish.org .
Warmly,
Michelle Levine, Chairperson Hudson Jewish Community Forum, A New Jersey Nonprofit Corporation having 501(c)(3) status

Family Foundations and Donations Sought for PJ Library Program |
| |
HudsonJewish in partnership with United Synagogue of Hoboken, and Temple Beth-El of Jersey City is seeking information/introductions to Family Foundations and/or individuals who have a special interest in supporting Jewish education, literacy, and children's programs in Hudson County, to help fund the PJ Library program. Currently this program provides free books to over 210 children in our area, with a waiting list pending. We now distribute a PJ Library monthly e-newsletter for participating and interested families. While we have made significant progress in growing this program in our area, the program does not charge the participating families and relies on outside donations and funding to pay the nominal cost per child for the books to be distributed. Partial funding is also sponsoredc by the UJA of Hoboken, but more funds are needed. For further information on this worthwhile program, please visit their website at www.PJLibrary.org . If you or anyone you know is interested in making a contribution and sponsoring this wonderful and important project, please contact Michelle@HudsonJewish.org . |
