Dear Friends,

While things have wound down from the busy year-round hustle and bustle, everyone is enjoying the slow lazy pace of summer. However, there are still lots of events throughout the County, so be sure to stop by and visit, for a program, a day, or a Shabbat - you will be welcomed at any of our Hudson County synagogues!

Speaking of synagogues, I had the pleasure of attending the Retirement Dinner for Rabbi Gordon Gladstone of Temple Beth Am of Bayonne recently. Rabbi Gladstone was honored for his 28 years of service to the Temple, and we wish him the very best in his future endeavors. Let me be one of the first to welcome Rabbi Jeffrey Salkin, the new Rabbi of Temple Beth Am, to our community. Rabbi Salkin is a noted author and lecturer, and is sure to bring many new and exciting programs to our area.

There are still a few spots in both camp and preschool locally at both the Bayonne JCC and United Synagogue of Hoboken Kaplan Learning Center. Don't miss the opportunity to give your child a warm, enriching, top-notch Jewish-based educational experience at either of these wonderful institutions.

I would like to wish you and your families a relaxing, refreshing, and rejuvenating summer. I look forward to seeing those of you whom I already know and meeting those whom I have not yet had the pleasure of meeting, around town. As always, if you have any questions, ideas, or wish to volunteer with HudsonJewish, please don't hesitate to reach out to us at Info@HudsonJewish.org .

Warmly,

Family Foundations and Donations Sought for PJ Library Program

HudsonJewish in partnership with United Synagogue of Hoboken, and Temple Beth-El of Jersey City is seeking information/introductions to Family Foundations and/or individuals who have a special interest in supporting Jewish education, literacy, and children's programs in Hudson County, to help fund the PJ Library program. Currently this program provides free books to over 210 children in our area, with a waiting list pending. We now distribute a PJ Library monthly e-newsletter for participating and interested families. While we have made significant progress in growing this program in our area, the program does not charge the participating families and relies on outside donations and funding to pay the nominal cost per child for the books to be distributed. Partial funding is also sponsoredc by the UJA of Hoboken, but more funds are needed. For further information on this worthwhile program, please visit their website at www.PJLibrary.org . If you or anyone you know is interested in making a contribution and sponsoring this wonderful and important project, please contact Raylie@HudsonJewish.org .
