 ACE's 36th ANNUAL MEETING

Exploring a Sustainable Vision for Redevelopment in Arlington's Residential Neighborhoods

Wednesday, March 5th, 6:30 p.m. - 9:00 p.m.

Navy League Building, 2300 Wilson Boulevard, Arlington, VA

Join ACE for our 36th annual meeting which will feature an overview of ACE's 2014 programming, election of the ACE board of directors, and a discussion with local leaders on the trend of building new single-family homes in ways that are not sensitive to the context and character of the neighborhood.

Arlington neighborhoods are evolving. The question is, can we move forward in a sustainable way that preserves the characteristics that people love, minimizes environmental impacts, and maintains some levels of affordability? ACE is bringing together individuals involved in the business of single-family residential design, development and preservation to explore the answer to this question and begin to paint a picture of what less impactful and more informed residential development could look like. Join us for a fast-paced conversation that explores challenges and generates ideas for taking the tear-down trend in a more positive direction.

The program will include a welcome by Arlington County Board Chair Jay Fisette. The evening's speakers will include:

  • Justin Falango, Arlington County Department of Community, Planning, Housing and Development
  • Marta Layseca, EnviroHomeDesign
  • Leslie Louden, Preservation Arlington
  • David Peabody, Peabody Architects
  • Vic Puri, SEED Homes

This program is free and light refreshments courtesy of Whole Foods Market will be provided. RSVP by March 4.

Bag It, Is Your Life Too Plastic?
Thursday, March 13th, 7:00 p.m.

Arlington Cinema & Drafthouse, 2903 Columbia Pike, Arlington

In this touching and often flat-out-funny film, we follow "everyman" Jeb Berrier, who is admittedly not a tree hugger, as he embarks on a global tour to unravel the complexities of our plastic world. What starts as a film about plastic bags evolves into a wholesale investigation into plastic and its effect on our waterways, oceans, and even our own bodies.

Meet the Actor Talk with "Bag It" Actor and Narrator Jeb Berrier at this exclusive screening! Berrier will be joined by special guest Jay Fisette, Arlington County Board Chairman and Tap In supporter.
Tickets $10. $5 for Students and Seniors. More information.
