KENYA - Nature's Paradise!

Kenya still holds a special place in our hearts, despite news of the incident at a Nairobi mall.

While the latest events in Kenya are extremely saddening, we at TravelBoecker Adventures can't help but feel very protective about Kenya. Our thoughts are with all the people who have been affected by this event.

Kenya is one of the most beautiful destinations in Africa, boasting people with the biggest smiles and animal sightings that are nothing short of spectacular. We wish to support the local industry and the people by further promoting this magnificent safari destination.

If you are unsure or a bit hesitant, then have a look at our new 12-day Northern Frontier Safari ...

With highlights like these, how can Kenya not be wonderful, magical and special?

More about Sustainable Travel

By booking your African Safari with TravelBoecker Adventures, you are able to contribute to many causes such as our own Spread the Smile project and the Mokoro venture in Botswana.
Traditionally the sausage tree is used to make a Mokoro (dugout canoe) in the Okavango Delta. Sadly these trees are disappearing from the region and so our local operator has set it up to encourage the local community to use fiberglass Mokoros. This is just a sample of our grass-roots projects that actually make a visible difference in the areas we visit.

I am on the road again...

To the Polar Bear Migration!

Having travelled on an Arctic expedition from Resolute Bay on Cornwallis Island, via Baffin Island to Greenland, I discovered a deep appreciation for the Arctic landscape. With its tiny, yet beautiful tundra flowers, the mighty polar bear and immense sculptural icebergs, the Arctic has been calling me back for a while now. I have a passion for the pristine landscapes of the Canadian Arctic and I can't wait to return for another visit.

So when the opportunity arose to travel to Churchill, Manitoba in November, I jumped on it.

"Churchill in winter?" you ask, "what's there except snow and ice??"

Well - if you didn't already know, annually in October and November  Churchill becomes the 'Polar Bear Capital of the World'. The bears just hang around waiting for the sea-ice to form, so they can go on the hunt for ring seals.

And Churchill must be the only place on earth to have a polar bear prison! Here they hold bears that stray into town and release them in Hudson's Bay, once the ice has formed.

Churchill, a village where bears outnumber the residents at this time of the year, plays host to visitors like me, wanting to experience the majestic polar bear up close, although hopefully not 'personal'.

This is also a great place to see the Aurora Borealis, another yearning of mine.

And so, in less than a month from now I will be all bundled up in a Tundra Buggy, travelling to the edge of Hudson's Bay on the 58th parallel, checking out the Polar Bear migration and the Northern Lights!  Video
