Shackleton's chilling Journey!

Shackleton took part in the first hot air balloon ride at Antarctica, attempted to drive the first motor vehicle to the South Pole, and along with his Endurance crew had the dubious honour of being the first to land on Elephant Island.

His resumé reads as an astounding list of firsts, and although not all of them would rate as successes, Sir Ernest Shackleton was an extraordinary explorer and phenomenal expedition leader. The tales of his Imperial Trans-Antarctic Expedition are the stuff of real intestinal fortitude.

"The expedition leader on the ship made every effort to make our trip memorable. Even when the weather was inclement, he found a way to either make a landing on a different location, or offered zodiac rides in beautiful bays when a landing was not possible. It was the trip of a lifetime!" A. Dedham, MA

Our ice-strengthened vessels are ideally suited to expedition cruising in the icy wilderness of Antarctica and the result is more like a private expedition than a traditional cruise.
More about our ships...

From the comfort of your well-appointed expedition cruise ships, you will make several landings - always weather dependent - on the Antarctic coastline, and perhaps the Orkneys, South Shetland, South Georgia and other remote islands. Here you will find beaches crowded with penguins, massive seal rookeries and sea lions lying packed side to side like roaring sausages.

Extreme and pristine, savage and serene, the end of the world is the mind-blowing adventure to beat all others.
