Living a Miracle

A message from Pastor Rick

Bonjou!

As you read this weekly message, Susan Ditore and I, along with Brian Rindels from Colorado, are on our way to Haiti. If all goes according to plan, we will arrive around 4:30 PM in Port-au-Prince for travel by car to Mibalè in Haiti's Central Plateau. We will be the guests of Fonkoze's CLM staff. For those of you not familiar with CLM, it stands for Chemen Lavi Miyò, which means "A Path to a Better Life."

On Thursday we will attend the official graduation of 98 families from the CLM program - 98 families whose path to a better life was funded by HTF, of which Epiphany is a major partner and source of funding. These families consist of a mother and a number of children, generally three to seven, who once lived in the most desperate poverty on the planet. Prior to enrollment in the CLM program, these women were without hope and their children were greatly at-risk.

These women and their children were enrolled in the program some 18 months ago. Persons from Epiphany who traveled to Haiti in January and July 2012 met many of these families. Prior to being selected to enroll in CLM, these families did not have even meagerly adequate shelter, no income-generating assets, none of their children in school, no reliable access to food, and no access to healthcare. Sunday's Sermon

The title of my sermon is "It's Personal." On this last Sunday of the Season of Lent, we are in the home of Mary, Martha, and Lazarus, the friend whom Jesus had resuscitated from the dead. Mary does something that another in the room calls foolish. She pours out her best possession for Jesus. Faith in Jesus has become personal for her. It has moved from fascination with Jesus to a deep love for Jesus. This movement from faith to love is the call to discipleship and our response to the great things Jesus has done and has promised.

Wednesdays at the Well Tonight
Lenten midweek worship at 7

Our Lenten worship series continues tonight, with the theme "God Is Good: Stories of Transformation." Each Wednesday brings us an Epiphany person to relate his or her own life and spiritual journey with a selected biblical character. Through the trials and victories of biblical people, our Epiphany "preachers" are willing to share and inspire us. Tonight, we hear from Chris Pyles, whose focus will be Paul.  The worship service is a simple Service of the Word with the Eucharist.

Prior to worship, join us at 6 PM for Epiphany's community meal and, at 6:30, for Imagine Wednesdays
