Greetings!

Many thanks to all of the planners, presenters, and attendees of our summer regional conferences. The Region 4 conference has come and gone in Portland (congrats!). The Region 2 conference is happening NOW in Charlotte (we can hear you singing!). The Region 1 conference will take place in Baltimore, July 14-16, and the Region 3 conference will take place in Kansas City, July 28-30. ALCM is at its best when we gather to sing and pray, to learn and share ideas, to expand our network of colleagues, and simply to enjoy being together. If you weren't able to attend a conference this summer, start thinking ahead to July of 2015 and our biennial conference in Atlanta!

Enjoy the rest of the summer,

Anne Krentz Organ
ALCM President

Raabe Prize
Accepting Submissions for the
2015 Raabe Prize

ALCM is now accepting submissions for the 2015 Raabe Prize for Excellence in Sacred Composition. The Raabe Prize is established to recognize a recent musical work which promotes and extends the practice of church music as it is informed and shaped by Lutheran theological insight and worship practice. Submissions for the 2015 prize must be received in the ALCM office by October 1, 2014.

Additional information, guidelines and submission requirements are available on the ALCM web site.

New Material in the Members Area

ALCM member Bruce Bengtson is sharing his composed gospel acclamations with ALCM members through the Members Area of the ALCM web site. The format of these acclamations is:  alleluia sung by the assembly (possibly introduced first by the choir), proper verse sung by the choir, alleluia sung by the assembly.  For each acclamation, a
setting of the alleluia from present or previous hymnals can be used to begin and end the gospel acclamation, provided it matches the mode of the choral acclamation. Additional acclamations will be posted as they become available.

Bruce's settings of gospel acclamations joins those of ALCM member David Schack, whose settings for solo voice or small choir are also available in the Members Area of the web site.

To view the gospel acclamations or other materials posted on the web site, log in, go to the Members Area and select "Seasonal Resources." Links for both Bruce's and David's acclamations appear on that page.

Kyries & Glorias

Want to know what's going on with ALCM members? Have news or prayer concerns to share? Check out "Kyries & Glorias" on the web site. The K&G section has been moved to the Connect menu, so that it can be viewed by both members and non-members. Only ALCM members can request that items be added. To add a Kyrie or Gloria, log in to the Members Area of the web site and select it from the menu on the left side of the screen.
