POE Tech Session on Organbuilding

Dear ALCM Members,

I am writing today on behalf of both AGO and APOBA to present a unique opportunity to students who are interested in organbuilding and, perhaps, in considering an apprenticeship in organbuilding.

We have an urgent need to help find participants for the upcoming POE Tech session being hosted by one of our member firms, Patrick J. Murphy & Associates in Stowe, PA, near Philadelphia, June 8th to 13th. The urgency is based on a May 1st deadline for sign up.

We are opening up the normal 23 year-old cut-off restriction to be "college age" or recent graduate. We want to make this available to anyone considering a career in organbuilding. This is a unique opportunity and I thought each of you might know of a worthy student who might benefit and appreciate a close-up, hands-on, look at organbuilding.

You may explore the details of this opportunity at:

In memoriam:  Ronald A. Nelson, 1927-2014

Probably best known in Lutheran circles as the composer of LBW Setting 2, Ronald Nelson died April 18. He served for 37 years as director of music at Westwood Lutheran Church in suburban Minneapolis. After retiring he devoted his time to composing, guest conducting, and serving as organist for chapel services at Becketwood, the senior cooperative where he and his wife Betty Lou resided. He was the recipient of a Distinguished Alumnus Award from St. Olaf College and the F. Melius Christiansen Award from Minnesota ACDA. In 2007 he received the ALCM Faithful Servant Award. ALCM's CD "Thankful Hearts & Voices Raise" features his music.

Additional information is posted in the Kyries & Glorias section of the ALCM web site.
Kyries & Glorias have moved!

In order to make the intercessions and thanksgivings listed on the "Kyries & Glorias" page more easily viewed, we've moved the page from the Members Area of the web site and posted it under "ALCM Connect." You no longer need to log in to view the prayer requests.
