David Bielenberg October greetings!

I hope that each of you has transitioned smoothly into your 'regular' schedules with choirs back and full service schedules resumed. September can be both an invigorating and exhausting month for church musicians. I hope it has been more of the former than the latter for each of you.

The 2nd annual National Conference for Sacred Music is coming up in January in Naples, Florida, and I encourage you to consider attending if time and resources allow. I attended last year's conference and found it full of great worship and performance experiences, as well as lots of practical and useful information exchanged. Augsburg Fortress and MorningStar are co-organizers for the conference, and ALCM, the Presbyterian Association of Musicians, and the Fellowship of United Methodists in Music and Worship Arts are all sponsors. It's a wonderful ecumenical opportunity to share with our Presbyterian and Methodist colleagues.

John Ferguson, recipient of ALCM's 2013 Faithful Servant award, and Martin Seltz will be leading the morning worship services, and John and Anton Armstrong will be conducting the closing festival concert. ALCM is sponsoring Karol Kimmell as leader of three workshops: Visuals for Choirs, The Liturgical Year with Children, and Children's Choirs - Planning and Programming. And at lunch on Thursday I will host an informal meeting for all ALCM members present.

And who wouldn't want to spend a few days in sunny Florida in early January! You can find more information here.

I hope to see some of you there!

David Bielenberg

ALCM Executive Director

Kyries and Glorias

Remember - "Kyries and Glorias" is a new opportunity for ALCM members to request prayers from within the ALCM community. One may ask for prayers of intercession (Kyries) and/or thanksgivings/rejoicings (Glorias).

An example might be: Request for healing for John Doe, diagnosed with cancer.

Prayer requests will be posted on the "Kyries and Glorias" page in the Members Area of the web site. To add a prayer request, complete the request form, and it will be posted within 24 hours, although it may be a bit more on weekends and holidays.
