Alicia Needed Help to Grow

Two-year-old Alicia was not growing, and Child Protective Services had to become involved. Through doctor appointments, surgeries, numerous foster placement changes and even the birth of a new baby brother, Alicia had advocate Bernadette by her side. Like no one else in Alicia's life, Bernadette pushed for what Alicia really needed.

Meet Advocate Gabe Meadows

Gabe Madows is a marketing executive who sings jazz in his free time. He's also a Dallas CASA volunteer currently advocating for four teenage boys in two different cases. He says serving kids in need is his true life's work. He tells the boys he works with he can't fully understand what they've been through, but that he promises to be there for them to protect their interests, listen to them and guide them around obstacles.

CASA Angels Christmas Gift Drive

It's time for Dallas CASA's Angel Tree gift drive for foster children in need! Each October, Dallas CASA volunteers begin gathering lists from the children they serve. Then during November, generous Dallas CASA supporters start checking those lists off, item by item. Gifts are dropped off at Dallas CASA and then wrapped by members of our Children's Council.

Are you ready to help make a child's holiday dreams come true? Would your employer or organization like to sponsor some children and help make their holiday dreams come true? To learn more or to engage your company or organization, contact Sharon Balaban by email or 469-547-9455.

Children's Council Fall Meeting

Dallas CASA's Children's Council fall general membership meeting brought four experts together to discuss the foster care system. "It truly takes a village," said Melody Rockwell, a program director at Child Protective Services. "This is too big for one agency or one person." Other speakers included Krystal Greenwood, a former foster youth, Nikki Warner, a foster parent, and Elaine Ziegler with CK Family Services

Please join Dallas CASA Children's Council, the principal auxiliary support group for Dallas CASA. The Children's Council raises funds through special events and promotes community awareness about the needs of the children Dallas CASA serves and the transformational effect loving, dedicated CASA volunteer advocates have on these children's lives.
