Whats New in Family Search? | 3 Ways to Use Your Smartphone for Family History
In the old days, researching your family's history probably required making a trip to the library while lugging around a briefcase stuffed with pads of paper, pens, old journals, newspaper clippings, cameras, and various other documents.
But things are different in 2016.

In fact, you've probably got all the tools and information you need right in the palm of your hand, thanks to your smartphone. Learn 3 ways to use your smartphone- click here.

When creating parents for an individual who was born 100 years ago, or more, I feel it is safe to assume they are deceased.
When creating a new individual, who is the parent of a person with a known birth year (or birth date) which was 100 years ago (or more) I believe the created person's living or deceased status should default to deceased.
When creating a new person the issue of living versus deceased is very important, because declaring a living person as deceased makes that living person information public. The User interface used to default but users were not noticing the default and the Persons were being created with the wrong living/deceased declaration. It was decided that the user has to make an explicit choice regarding this.
There are situations where the default would lead to the wrong conclusion. For instance if the child appeared to have a birth more than 100 years and the parent was declared dead: but the birth was wrong, or say 5 kids had births years 20 yrs ago but this one kids had 100, perhaps the child info is wrong. This can cause a cascade of wrong info via family members. So it is best suited for a human to determine. In newFS there are all kinds of computed decisions. Frequently these computed things were entirely wrong. So in FamilyTree (FT) it tries not to compute, especially where privacy could be jeopardized. Even today the 1940 census has many instances where a user assumes the person is dead, even though they may be living.

Many documents our ancestors left behind were in the counties they lived in. Birth, Marriage and Death records. Deeds, Wills and other Probate records.
But when were they first recorded? When was the county created? What were the parent counties?
Photo Analysis: Why You Should Ask an Expert

School Records, Even if Your Ancestor Didn't Attend School
One of the more interesting sources of records available in a lot of archives are school records. Even if your ancestor didn't attend school as a child, you might be surprised by what can be found in the various types of school records. Learn how to find this information- click here.
Who's Got Blacksheep Ancestors?
Blacksheep ancestors. We all love 'em. Let's be honest - there's something exciting and intriguing about having a bad boy or bad girl in our family trees. What constitutes a blacksheep ancestor though? It ranges from someone who sold booze without a licence to a murderer. So without discussing the human tragedy aspect of an unsavory character's influence on family members, let's have some fun and list our blacksheep! Read more-click here.
Why would you want to find your ancestors' school records? Well they can, at the very least, put your ancestors in a time and a place - very helpful when you can't seem to find them in more-used records like the federal population census. And even when you can find them in population census records, where were they in between the censuses since they were only enumerated every 10 years? Another good reason to try and find your ancestors' school records is that they may reveal their parents' names or siblings. Click here for 11 places that may yield school records.

Suggestion for Weekly Bulletin Thought |
Elijah came to turn the hearts of the fathers to their children and the children to their fathers. With that, natural affection between generations began to be enriched. This restoration was accomplished by what is sometimes called the Spirit of Elijah-a manifestation of the Holy Ghost bearing witness of the
divine nature of the family.

The Lovely Girl With Two Apples
A lovely little girl was holding two apples with both hands.
Her mum came in and softly asked her little daughter with a smile; my sweetie, could you give your mum one of your two apples?
The girl looked up at her mum for some seconds, then she suddenly took a quick bite on one apple, and then quickly on the other.
The mum felt the smile on her face freeze. She tried hard not to reveal her disappointment.
Then the little girl handed one of her bitten apples to her mum,and said: mummy, here you are. This is the sweeter one.
FLASH: No matter who you are, how experienced you are, and how knowledgeable you think you are, always delay judgement.
Give others the privilege to explain themselves.
