The monthly staff training meeting for the Logan FamilySearch Library will be held Wednesday, April 8 at 9:00 am in the Tabernacle Chapel.  Matt Brooks, Director of Development for Kinpoint, a software to help you connect with your ancestors, will present our training.

The Logan FamilySearch library will be closed Thursday, April 2 and Friday, April. 3 for installation of new computers.  We will also be closed Saturday, April 3 for General Conference.  Any classes or workshops that had been scheduled for those days have been canceled and will be rescheduled.

BECAUSE HE LIVES

Jesus Christ lived. He walked the Holy Land, working miracles and teaching truth. Then He was crucified. But His death was not the end. Because of His Resurrection, we will live again. Because of His sacrifice, we can rise above sin to experience true joy. Because He lives, we can find His help and healing every day of our lives.

Watch this short (2 minute) video as you prepare for Easter.

 Whats New in Family Search?

How to Exchange Details between Ancestry and Family Tree

You've created family trees in FamilySearch and you have one in Ancestry.com.  Now you want coordinate both trees so that you can exchange details between the two trees. How do you keep them both synchronized?   See a complete example by clicking here.

Help Desk
Question - I understand that not everyone has the same version of FamilySearch home page but on mine there are three black bars in the upper right hand corner where previously there was a "Sign-in" tab.  I am a senior citizen, and it took me a while to understand that I should click on these black bars and that would lead me to a choice of three different sign-in opportunities.  Am I the only one confused when first confronting this change?

Answer - This icon is common on the web and the three bars mean "Click here for Menu".  On the FamilySearch sign-in page, it only shows up if your browser window is too narrow to show the full top menu and the usual sign-in link.  If you are on an iPod or iPad or other type of tablet, you will usually get the box with bars because of the smaller screens.

8 Simple Tips for Genealogy Source Citations

Citing sources of genealogy information can be a confusing process: How do you know what information to cite, what details to include in the citation, and where to keep all your citations so they'll stay paired with the fact you're citing and the record where you found that fact?  Click this link to learn more.

Lost in the Homeland Part 1: Researching Genealogy in Germany

While I'm not an expert on genealogy by any means, I have been researching for a number of years and have learned a few things along the way.  Since 100% of my non-US research is in Germany,  many of the things I've learned are about doing research in that difficult venue.  Joining Ancestry and hoping for the best won't get you much of anywhere, I'm afraid.  I'd like to share some of the resources I've tapped into in doing my German research, in the hope that it might help some who are just getting into it.

Family Home Evening  Family History Stories

"In an article in the March 2013 New York Times entitled "The Stories That Bind Us," author Bruce Feiler shared psychologists' findings that the more children knew about their family history, the better they were able to handle stressful situations.  The reasons were that the children realized they were a part of something bigger than themselves, they understood their family overcame many ups and downs, and they believed they could overcome difficulties too.

These family home evening ideas will help your family learn more about your extended family and start building bonds with parents, grandparents, and ancestors.  Click this link to view a complete family Home Evening or 5th Sunday Lesson:  https://www.lds.org/topics/family-history/family-home-evening?lang=eng

Suggestion for Weekly Bulletin Thought

"In this day and age of computer technology and computer wizardry there are things which do and do not work. We cannot overcome the promptings of the spirit and expect to find our ancestors. If we ignore that, above all else, we will not have the experiences which we continue to have if we listen to the promptings and go when and where we are told to go."

 David E. Rencher

Smart Work

Once two woodcutters have argued, who of them will cut more wood since morning till four o'clock p.m.
In the morning two men took up their position. First they worked at one speed. But in an hour one of them has heard, that the other one stopped cutting trees. Realizing that this was his chance, the first woodcutter started to cut trees with double efforts.
Ten minutes passed, and he heard that the second woodcutter started to work again. They were working almost synchronously, when the first woodcutter heard that his opponent has stopped again. The first woodcutter started to work, feeling the smell of victory.

This lasted all day long. Each hour one of woodcutters stopped for ten minutes and the other one continued to work. When time expired, the first woodcutter who worked without stopping was absolutely sure that he won the prize.

He was very surprised to know that was mistaken.
- How did that happen? - he asked his partner. - Each hour I heard that you have stopped the work for ten minutes. How could you cut more trees than I? It's impossible!

- It was very simple, in fact, - answered the second woodcutter. - Each hour I stopped the work for ten minutes. And when you were cutting the trees, I sharpened an ax.
