Free RSA Educational Webinar - DJs
 The RSA Education Committee has been hard at work planning a variety of educational events throughout the year. As part of this plan, members will have exclusive access to completely free educational webinars hosted by industry leaders and presenters.

 Next week, Steve Earley will be presenting ways you can improve your DJ services in the rink. Stephen Earley has been in the roller skating industry for 25 years. Currently he is the Director of National On-Site Marketing for Sure Grip International and travels the country visiting skating centers. Steve has appeared on a number of television game shows where he lost almost all of the time. He had performed his DJ seminar to scores of rink operators across the country.

Members will not only be able to listen in on this informative, live webinar, but they will be able to ask questions when the presentation is complete!

 In Memoriam: Robert Edward Murphy
Robert Edward Murphy, a resident of Warrington since 1966, passed away on Friday, November 08, 2013 at the Doylestown Hospital. He was 84.
Robert was the loving husband for 53 years to Helen Jane Murphy.
Born in Philadelphia, Robert was the son of the late Daniel and Pearl Murphy.
Robert, a recipient of the Purple Heart, proudly served with the US Army during the Korean War. He also was a charter member of the WWII memorial in Washington DC.
From 1989 to 2007, Robert was the owner and operator of the Spin-A-Round Skating Center, Line Lexington and was a member of the Roller Skating Operators Association.
He was also a member of the Society of Roller Skating Teachers Association and for 20 years was the assistant director of roller skating with the Special Olympics.
In addition to his wife, Robert is survived by his sister-in-law Margaret Curtis and her husband George. Robert was preceded in death by a brother Daniel.

Now Welcoming SRSTA Teacher of the Year Nominations!
The RSA Honors Committee welcomes your nomination for SRSTA Teacher of the Year for 2013-2014. The coach will be honored at the 2014 RSA National Convention. Nominations are due March 1, 2014.
This honor recognizes the SRSTA coach who serves as a steward to our industry while helping skaters develop roller skating skills. SRSTA coaches work in tandem with RSA rink operators to encourage skaters' participation and progression through the Super Skater and Achievement Test programs-hallmarks of the RSA.
SRSTA Teacher of the Year criteria:
"This award given annually to the individual member of the SRSTA who has contributed the most during the past year to the advancement of the principles of that organization and to the furthering of teaching skills of roller skating. It is awarded for an individual's non-competitive contributions to the SRSTA."
Nominations: Due March 1, 2014

Roller Skating Foundation Encourages Scholarship Applications from Members & Affiliate Members
The Roller Skating Foundation is encouraging graduating high school seniors of RSA members and affiliate members to apply for a $4000 tuition scholarship.
Affiliate members include:
- SRSTA Members
- SCA Members
- RHCA Members
- RSA Members
- RSM Members
The Roller Skating Foundation is announcing that a $4000 tuition scholarship will now be available to all applicants who can be certified by an RSA or Affiliate Member to be a child or employee of said member or a child of an employee of the member!
In addition, the Foundation is offering a free downloadable flyer for members to put up in their rink employee area to help get the word out about this scholarship. You can even print a few applications for staff to take with them!
Applications are due no later than April 1, 2014 for the Fall 2014 school year.
