EKC to Sponsor Build for Habitat for Humanity

Thanks to the success of this year's Design Slam, AIA East Kentucky is able to donate $6,500 toward the sponsorship of a Habitat for Humanity Build Day, which will be held on Saturday, September 26. We are looking for 9-12 volunteers to help with this event. If interested, please email Jordan Nalley to sign up!

University of Kentucky College of Design

  • CoD Director of Architecture, David Biagi, and professors Bruce Swetnam and David Mohney collaborated to design Kentucky Native Café. The café is located under the frame of an aged greenhouse behind Michler Florist on West Maxwell Street in Lexington and has been described by the Kentucky Kernel as "an urban oasis".

  • Congratulations to UK/CoD School of Architecture student Sarah Kimble. Sarah's furniture piece was chosen as a finalist in the "Fresh Wood 2015" National Student Furniture Design Competition to be held in July 22-25 in Las Vegas, Nevada. Sarah's entry is a coffee table titled "Plane Spaces."

LEED GA Exam Prep

Kentucky USGBC is hosting two LEED Green Associate Exam Prep classes in August in Louisville and Lexington. The one-day class is intended for anyone who wants more than a basic understanding of LEED - including those with a stake in their company's or community's building practices, those directly involved in green building projects, and those pursuing GBCI's LEED Green Associate credential.
