JulyJuly Program:   'Their Final Place'
July Breakfast Program- "Their Final Place" by Henry Kuehn

Date: Thursday, July 23, 2015
Location: Enter at the Main Gate of Cave Hill Cemetery, at intersection of Baxter and Broadway; Meeting will be held in the Board Room
Time: Breakfast event- 7:30-8:30am (The presentation will begin promptly at 7:30am); Continental breakfast from Panera (or similar) will be served at the program.

Presentation: 'Their Final Place'- this program will feature the burial locations of famous architects (such as Eero Saarinen, Louis Sullivan, H H Richardson, etc.). The presenter, Henry Kuehn, has authored a book by this same title. Mr. Kuehn is from Chicago, and is on the Board of the Society of Architectural Historians. He is very knowledgeable of architectural history. He also is a tour guide for the Irwin Miller House in Columbus, Indiana as well at Graceland Cemetery in Chicago.

This years event supports Louisville Grows in the planting of 150 trees in the Russell Neighborhood.  We join the efforts to address Louisville's diminished tree canopy and help combat our designation as the US city with the fastest growing Heat Island Effect.

Who: AIA-CKC is working with CSI, SMPS, NAWIC and KY USGBC
What: Dinner, Bourbon Tasting, Silent Auction with Live Music and Games
When: Friday, Sept. 18, 2015 from 6pm to 10pm

Belle of Louisville Bridge and Architecture Cruise

Saturday, July 11th, Noon to 3 pm: 


The Belle of Louisville will have a special cruise featuring local Ohio River history and architecture commentary by Steve Wiser, AIA, as well as an 'up close' view of the 2 new bridges being constructed. Boarding begins at 11:30 am. Departure at 12 Noon and return at 3 pm. Cost varies from $25 for normal sightseeing to $39 if you want the buffet lunch. This cruise is already over 50% full, so RSVP soon if interested!
