AIA EKC/Fayette Alliance 3rd Annual Design Slam!!!  

The Design Slam will be held at West 6th Brewing on Saturday, June 13. Come cheer on and vote for teams from local architecture firms as they race to complete compelling designs for a space in downtown Lexington. All proceeds of this event will go to benefit Lexington's Habitat for Humanity.  

 

UK CoD Architecture students Addison Hughes and Nathan Tanner received honorable mentions in the International HMMD Himalayan Mountain Hut architecture competition. HMMD and the Nepal Mountaineering Association, with support from the Samarth - Nepal Market Development Programme, are working to develop a high altitude accommodation unit that will be the first of its kind to ever be established in Nepal.

AIA/CKC Procrastinator's Weekend @ General Butler

Understanding and Applying the KY Energy Codes

 

AIA Kentucky, in conjunction with the Code Administrators Association of Kentucky and the Kentucky Department of Housing, Buildings and Construction, is offering this seminar as an overview for design professionals, commercial contractors, code officials and developers as they prepare for the 2012 IECC. It will briefly touch upon the residential provisions of the 2009 IECC, while focusing primarily on the critical concepts of the commercial provisions of the 2012 IECC and the ASHRAE 90.1-2010 Standard. This program will earn six (6) AIA/CES Learning Units in Health, Safety & Welfare topics, and is being offered in four locations on four dates.

AIA ARE PREP: Powered by Black Spectacles 

 

In an effort to support recent architecture graduates preparing for the Architect Registration Exam� (ARE�), the AIA has partnered with online architectural learning company Black Spectacles to launch to AIA ARE Prep: Powered by Black Spectacles, a comprehensive library of over 40 hours of high-quality online video tutorials that prepare licensure candidates for all seven divisions of the ARE. AIA Associate members receive a 15% member discount on monthly and annual subscriptions. These online programs are available anytime, on any device. This is a great opportunity for associates to advance their professional development and for design firms to help educate and prepare their employees for the licensure process.

  • Congratulations to April Pottorff, FAIA - On May 15, at the 2015 National Convention in Atlanta, April became Kentucky's first female Fellow!!!
  • Congratulations to Craig Chamberlain, Assoc. AIA, who has been elected by the AIA Ohio Valley Regional Council as Associate Director, representing the Kentucky, Indiana and Ohio associates on the AIA National Associates Committee. Craig is a project manager at JRA Architects, in Lexington
  • Congratulations to David Humlong, AIA, LEED AP - David has joined the architectural design team at GRW in Lexington, bringing with him more than 29 years of experience in all phases of design and construction administration in roles as project architect, project manager, and client manager.   

  • Congratulations to Todd Ernst, AIA who is now an Associate at CMW, Inc. in Lexington.
