American Legion South Bay Post 184

American Legion South Bay Post 184 Newsletter

July 2007

Cdr. Scruggs Greetings!
Members and Friends of the Legion

I would like to first thank all the people for their help on July the 4th . We had a great turnout for the picnic and hope to even do better on Labor Day. If the turnout continues we will have a nice

Group of calling cards for the troops.  If you know of someone in the war on terrorism, please get their APO to us so we can send calling cards to these soldiers.

Over the next year I would like to see us reinvest some of our funds in the post. We need to upgrade the kitchen. Add bathrooms in the hall for parties and setup a service bar in the kitchen for the parties. The canteen needs to  be upgraded. We need to keep all

Of the post clean  and maintain everything in good working order.

When we let things go for a period of time it then cost us more to get it back to working order.

I want to see more members participating in the Post's activities and in the Post as a whole.

I want to keep all lines of communication open at all times.

We will be making some changes to get this done over the next year. And we need you and any member you know to get your e-mail addresses on our web site so we can get those lines open.

I hope we all are  looking forward to the challenges of the next year.

New look for backyard.

bbq1After serving countless burgers & dogs since the early 80's the FRANCIS E. FILBACK BBQ finally succumbed to  clogging of the pipes. The Executive  Committee  decided to  avoid the considerable expense of repairing and regrilling and go with a modern portable unit.  The potential fire hazard{directly under our  Sycamore tree} and the gaining of patio space also figure into the decision.

A
hardy pat on the back to SAL member Brian Cleary for his professional work on the tear-down and repaving. He can be reached at 310-316-3090 if your need a professional contractor for you home or business. It is important to support the men and women that donate their time & energy maintaining the POST.
