IT IS FABULOUS FEBRUARY!

 The ASU-SBDC is looking forward to a month full of business seminars in the new BRC training room, the groundhog's forecast, Super Bowl Weekend, and other popular events that occur at this time of year. One event that you may not be familiar with is the Ports to Plains Southern Trade Task Force Conference. This group was created to engage communities and ensure success in the global marketplace by improving and promoting transportation infrastructure. The open session will take place on Friday, February 15th at the LeGrand Alumni and Visitors Center from 9 AM until 1:30 PM. Registration ($30) includes light refreshments, drinks, and lunch. SPEAKER: LILIANA SALAZAR Senior Vice-President and Employee Benefits Compliance Practice Co-Leader, Wells Fargo Insurance While most people struggle to make sense of health care regulations and policies, Liliana Salazar's attention to detail helps her not only understand the technical jargon, but also be a leader in her profession. As an employee benefits compliance professional, Salazar possesses extensive experience addressing employers' responsibilities under federal, state and local laws. She interacts with regulatory agencies, such as the Department of Labor, Internal Revenue Service, Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, Departments of Health and Human Services and State insurance departments, to address the applicability of laws and regulations to group health plans. Salazar and her staff are actively involved in identifying and implementing cost-effective employer solutions that comply with new health care reform mandates, including defined contribution plans and consumer-driven health care plans. Salazar earned her Juris Doctorate from the Universidad de Los Andes in Columbia. She is a member of the American Bar Association and the California and Los Angeles County Bar Associations. Prior to joining Wells Fargo Bank Insurance 15 years ago, she worked in Columbia as an in-house counsel for Multinspec Ltd. and Thomas Miller Inc. Americas. Ports-to-Plains February 15th, 2013
