ASK THE BROKER:
"I thought Delaware has lower taxes!"
"I thought Delaware has lower taxes," is a buyers' comment we often hear. Delaware does have lower taxes than almost any state in the Mid-Atlantic or the Northeast, but how low depends on where you buy and in what neighborhood.
Recently, we have worked with clients from Long Island, Northern NJ and CT that are currently paying property taxes of $15K to $20K+ per year and that's not all. The real problem seems to be how much their taxes have continued to go up. As you start planning for retirement, a growing tax liability is scary. Delaware not only has lower property taxes and no sales tax, it's a really nice place to live. Read more about property taxes in Delaware.
