Greetings!
With Spring arriving any minute now, ONE has been hard at work creating new and inventive programs and exhibitions that are sure to cure even the worst winter blues. In conjunction with Queers Print, and in celebration of ONE's 60th Anniversary, activists Alan Bell and Jeanne Córdova will reflect on their involvement with the LGBTQ press and the historical importance of queer publications in building community on March 9th at the ONE Gallery. ONE is also very excited to be leading a comprehensive training on LGBTQ History at the FAIR Education Act Regional Institute in Hayward on March 14th. The Hayward School District Institute is part of a series of state wide institutes in several key school districts that aim to fast track the implementation of the FAIR Act through comprehensive training of educators and administrators in LGBTQ and Disability History.
ONE is busier then ever bringing all the treasures of the archives to you. We hope you are able to join us for our many upcoming programs and exhibitions in March!

ONE and the FAIR Education Act:
LGBTQ History in California Schools
ONE is excited to be leading a comprehensive training on LGBTQ History at the groundbreaking FAIR Education Act Institute in Hayward, CA next week. The FAIR (Fair, Accurate, Inclusive, Respectful) Education Act (Senate Bill 48) was passed by the Legislature and signed into law by Governor Jerry Brown on July 14, 2011, which went into effect on January 1, 2012.
The FAIR Education Act amends the education code to require California schools to integrate factual information about social movements, current events and history of LGBTQ people as well as people with disabilities into existing social studies lessons. It also prevents the State Board of Education from adopting instructional materials that discriminate.
