 New Pups
Lilo, our amazing Border Collie female, gave birth to seven adorable pups in late August. Mom and pups are doing great.
Some of you might remember that Lilo was kicked in the head a few years ago by a cow, splitting her nose open, and leaving her very vulnerable. Allan is hoping that one of these pups will ultimately be her work replacement.

New Shopping Cart
 Our new shopping cart is up and running. Hopefully you will like it, but we welcome your comments.
There is no place to check for a shipping quote before placing your order, but if you would like one there is a place to send us a note.
We will still call you for your credit card number. No way around that because of the variables in the weights of the actual packages of meat you receive. I love getting a chance to "meet" you, anyway!

Seibel Hayfields
Allan snagged this shot of Kenneth Seibel's hayfield, close to our ranch. Hay season is in full swing (along with hay fever!). You can see Navajo Lake in the background.
Such a tranquil setting, evidence of a great summer with plenty of moisture.

No Shipping Labor Day Week
We will not be shipping on September 7th, Labor Day, but will resume shipping on September 14th. We will actually be in Bolivar, Texas, celebrating Allan's mom's 88th birthday on September 8th.
This picture was taken at Doris' 80th birthday party, the last time we were all together to celebrate her. Our kids and grandkids, as well as Allan's brother and sister and their families, will all be there.
A week on the beach with her entire family. Glorious!

Visit Pagosa
As we approach fall, our busiest season of the year and the time when many of you stock up on your meat supplies for the winter, I wanted to remind you that we can offer you some pretty amazing condos at the Wyndham Resort in Pagosa Springs, should you wish to pick up your meat and make a vacation of it. Allan's mom owns a timeshare with Wyndham and we offer fully equipped condos at an extremely reasonable price to help her offset some of her maintenance fees.
If you are interested just email me your information, including arrival date, number of nights, and the number of beds/bedrooms needed, and I will shoot you a price. I don't think you will be disappointed in the accommodations, or in the price, which is usually less than the cost of a simple motel room.

A View from the Porch
 
A flock of about 30 wild turkeys has been traveling through the property, and the other day they walked past the back porch, where I took these pictures.
Thought you might like to see them.
We feel so privileged to be able to watch them so closely. They are truly an incredible sight.

In Closing . . .
As you can imagine, getting Allan away from the ranch for a week is quite the challenge. Honestly, I won't believe it until we are actually on the road. I know the time off will be so good for him, and I really look forward to our road trip - and seeing him relax with his family at the beach. Hope you all have a wonderful Labor Day as well.
