A View From the Porch
The setting sun created a magnificent display of color one evening last week. I took the first picture from our deck, and Allan caught the other two from the driveway with his cell phone. What a blessing it is to live in Colorado!

Chicken Gizzards Available
Just wanted to let you know we now have chicken gizzards available at $4.59 per pound, along with livers and hearts. We occasionally get requests for chicken feet, but have not found a source for them.

Website Updated
We recently updated our website to a more current format. I was very hesitant to do this at first, because so many of you have told us how much you like our website. You know the saying, "If it ain't broke, don't fix it." However, in the end I am personally very happy with the changes, and I hope you are too.
And we are in the process of creating a new shopping cart that I hope you will find MUCH more user friendly. I expect to have it up and running before the end of this month. As before, though, you will not be able to enter your credit card information online, but instead, I will continue to call you if we do not already have it on file. Some of you might consider this a pain, but in the end I really do enjoy having the chance to speak to each of you. We hope that our personalized service and knowing where your meat comes from is why you have chosen GrassRoots Meats in the first place.
Anyway, check it all out and let me know what you think. Suggestions are always welcomed.

Wild Turkeys
Allan called my attention to a flock of turkey hens with young poults migrating from the woods to the edge of the pasture below the house the other day. It was an amazing sight. We had never seen this many in a group before.

| | If you look closely there are lots of poults hidden in the grass in this picture. We were excited to see how many young birds there were. Sure hope they survive, but the odds are not in their favor. |

New Colt

| | Our good friend Preston gave us a colt to keep company with Pepsi, our very lonely horse. |

Ranch Pictures

| | It is so lovely and green on the ranch this summer. For the first time in years we have had adequate rains, and coupled with the irrigation system the grass is knee high and the cattle are getting fat. |

In Closing . . .
Oh my goodness, lots of pictures this month! Why say with words what a picture can say so much better. Summer is such a wonderful season. New growth everywhere, warm days and cool nights and fun things to do combine to make it perhaps the best time of the year. I always like to say that "God is a very clever feller!"
