Poor or Rich?
One day the father of a very wealthy family took his son on a trip to the country with the express purpose of showing him how poor people live. They spent a couple of days and nights on the farm of what would be considered a poor family.
On the return from their trip the father asked his son, "How was the trip?"
"It was great, Dad."
Did you see how poor people live?" the father asked.
"Oh yeah," said the son.
"So tell me, what did you learn from the trip?" asked the father.
The son answered, "I saw that we have one dog and they have four.
We have a pool that reaches to the middle of our garden and they have a creek that has no end. We have imported lanterns in our garden and they have the stars at night. Our patio reaches to the front yard and they have the whole horizon. We have a small piece of land to live on and they have fields that go beyond our sight. We have servants who serve us but they serve others. We buy our food but they grow theirs. We have walls around our property to protect us but they have friends to protect them."
The boy's father was speechless. Then his son added, "Thanks, Dad, for showing me how poor we are."

Wow! The wildlife are very active and Allan has captured some great pictures again this month. Hoping we don't run into these bears. Actually Allan would probably love to.

Maximizing Shipping Cost Efficiency
As you probably know we do not have a minimum order quantity. However, our 5 boxes are designed to hold 20, 30, 40, 50, and 65 pounds respectively, so if your orders follow that pattern you will minimize on your UPS shipping costs and maximize on your savings. The more weight you order the lower your shipping costs per pound. In the summer we add 3 to 5 pounds of dry ice to boxes taking longer than 2 days to arrive, as well as those to the hotter climates, so allowance has to be made for the ice during those months.

If in doubt just call or make a note on the order form and we will help you figure out what is best.

Stay in Pagosa
Just a reminder that if you ever want to come to Pagosa to pick up your meat we can offer some pretty amazing prices on fully furnished condos at the Wyndham Resort in Pagosa Springs. Allan's mom literally is a platinum owner with lots of extra points and we rent out the rooms to help her with her maintenance fees.

Lots of you have already taken advantage of this and have reported that the condos are great and the prices even better.

If you are interested give me a call and I will check pricing and availability. The winter months are an especially good value, so consider skiing Wolf Creek, relaxing in the hot mineral pools at the Springs Resort, enjoying our many fine restaurants, cross country skiing at the Pagosa Lakes golf course, and/or planning a trip to the high country for a day of snow mobile fun. Pagosa is a magical winter wonderland - and a very well kept secret!

Price Changes January 1st
Starting in January we are going to restructure our pricing, hopefully an improvement. A few of the beef cuts will go up in price, but the main change will be an increase in the price of all packages, with a corresponding 10% discount on any order of $300 or more, including packages. (There will be no discount on quarters, halves and wholes of beef and lamb, though.)

The discount on these orders should help to offset most, if not all, of your shipping costs, depending on where you live.

Once we get it rolling I welcome your feedback. While I have thought long and hard about this change, change can be good and change can be bad. Your perspective will be appreciated.
