Don't miss our Halloween Carnival this Saturday! Can you sign up and help?  I'll be baking cookies, reading to kids, and helping at the cake walk?  How about you?

PTA President's Message
Hello Murwood Families!
I hope you all enjoyed last nights Parent Education night! We are looking to having more of these as the school year progresses. 

I hope you have been able to visit the Book Fair and pick up a few more books to become household favorites. Saturday at the Halloween Carnival will be the last day for the Book Fair.

Speaking of Halloween Carnival, the Carnival is this Saturday the 24th. There will be plenty of fun activities! Please come and join us as it will also be the last day for the book fair.

Mayor Bob Simmons to visit Murwood Walking Club on Wednesday, October 28th from 11:45 AM to 12:30 PM on Wednesday, October 28th. We will need a few extra volunteers to help tally the kids laps. Please contact the PTA if you can help!

COFFEE WITH CAROL TOMORROW
Please join Murwood PTA and Principal Carol Nenni for "Coffee with Carol" tomorrow at 8:30 AM in the teacher's lounge. Come hear about about what's new at school, ask questions, and get to know the community.

GIFT WRAP SALE
How's everyone's gift wrap selling going?  Murwood is currently raising money for our science program and outdoor education through a gift wrap and kitchen item sale.  Look for the Charleston Wrap packet and shop, shop, shop!  Our school code is 7626.  It is quick and easy to sign up your child then, forward the online shopping link to relatives who are out of town. The sale ends the week of October 21.  Thank you for supporting Murwood and our science program. 

REFLECTIONS
We had some amazing Reflections entries this year on the theme of "Let your imagination fly."  They are posted by the office. Come by and see the imaginative work of our Murwood students.

BOOK FAIR
Our scary Monster Book Fair is in full roar!  It is so awesome to see how excited all the students are to see all these new books.  As a reminder the book fair is open from 2-4 PM today through Friday. And it is also open during the Halloween Carnival on Saturday.  

HALLOWEEN CARNIVAL - THIS SATURDAY!
Join us  this  Saturday, October 24th from 11:30-3pm for our Annual Murwood Halloween Carnival.  This is a free Murwood Community event, with a nominal fee for food/cake walk.  There will be loads of fun activities for our students, including: Carnival games, cake walk, face painting, Sips and Sliders food truck, and fabulous prizes for students.   Remember to stop by the library for our book fair during the carnival.  The carnival will come to a close with an amazing Magic Show from 2-2:45pm that you don't want to miss!!

PUMPKIN CARVING CONTEST
Please bring pumpkins for the Pumpkin Carving Contest next Friday morning.  Awards will be awarded at each grade level and to each participant. Make sure you bring it home after school to decorate your home for Halloween!

HANDS-ON DISCOVERY DAY AT BAY AREA SCIENCE FAIR
Explore! Discover! Create! is a hands-on discovery day for students ages 5-14. The free event will be held from 9 AM-noon October 24, at the Cal State East Bay, Concord Campus located at 4700 Ygnacio Valley Rd, Concord.  

Students at the event move from station-to-station participating in hands-on science and engineering activities, including making ice cream using liquid nitrogen, daytime solar viewing, a Popscicle stick catapult competition, and more.  For more information call 925-521-1511.

  • The Lamorinda Rugby program had over 300 players in what was a successful 2014-2015 season.  We always welcome new players, ages 7-19.  Our main season runs from December to March/April. Registration for the 2015-2016 season is now open.
