Principal's Message
Dear Murwood Families,

Friday is our Walk-a-thon Day and you can help your child walk miles for Murwood by making sure they have a good breakfast, a healthy snack, are covered at home with sunscreen, and arrive at school with a water bottle, tennis shoes, and a hat to block the sun!  We'll be walking again as a family at 4:00 PM, followed by our fantastic family picnic. Make new friends and meet your children's classmates!  We are a warm welcoming community and this is one of favorite events!

We ask that you leave your pets at home, as we don't allow pets on campus during school hours or events.  We also ask that you supervise your children closely on the playground and field to ensure their safety.

Do you speak a second language fluently and are willing to translate for some of our new families?  If so, call the office and tell us what language you speak and provide a contact number and best times to help.  Thanks!

Thank you,
Carol Nenni

WALK-a-THON 2015
The Walk-a-Thon is only two days away!!! Please remember to have your child return his/her Pledge form to their teacher by TOMORROW.

We'd appreciate it if you could send a water bottle to school with your child on Friday so that he/she will have it while walking during the day.  We'll refill as needed and please make sure your child's name is clearly marked on it.  This will help us reduce the amount of cups and trash.

If you haven't had a chance to sign up to volunteer at the event, please click here.

BACK TO SCHOOL PICNIC
Please join us this Friday after the Murwood Walk-a-Thon to celebrate the beginning of a new school year at the annual Back To School Picnic.  Bring a picnic dinner and gather with friends and family at this free family fun event.  There will be music, our second annual Halloween costume exchange is back and spirit wear will be displayed and sold.  Dessert will be provided by the PTA.  Come eat, dance, play and walk!  The Picnic will be from 5-7 PM at the Murwood Fields. Please sign up to volunteer here.

SPIRIT WEAR IS AVAILABLE FOR SALE!!
Every Friday is Spirit Day!  You want to make sure your child is supporting Murwood by wearing his/her Spirit Wear every Friday!!  Murwood Spirit Wear is now available online! Buy your T-shirts, Hoodies and Zipped Sweatshirts all just a click away!  Samples will be available at the Welcome Back Picnic!  Come on out and see what fits your child best and get your order in!!

REFLECTIONS
Does your child like to be creative?  Then take the opportunity to participate in this year's Reflections program!  The theme this year is "Let Your Imagination Fly."  Feel free to check out www.capta.org for more information.  All rules and entry forms are in the Reflections box in the office.  If you are interested in helping out or have questions, please contact Stacy Cerruti.

FAMILY FUN NIGHT VOLUNTEERS NEEDED!
Please consider hosting/organizing a Family Fun Night this school year such as disco bingo, movie night, multicultural night, etc.  These are free community events offered throughout the year and supported by the Murwood PTA.  We are looking for some new energetic volunteers interested in organizing one or more of these favorite events this year.  Please contact Andrea Slavet or Dana Neitz if you are interested in getting involved!
After School Enrichment

There is still time!  Most of the Afterschool enrichment is accepting late registrations.

Girls Running Club has space available for 3-5 grade girls.

Dancers wanted for twirling and pom pom shaking on Mondays.

Remember, chorus/choir signup is open year round. The affordable registration fee covers class materials for the whole year.

The Afterschool enrichment program is a volunteer PTA run program. Can you help?
Email us at [email protected] if you want to learn more. Work side-by-side with current and past coordinators and learn the ropes before we move on to WCI!

Look for the ASE class flyers at www.murwoodpta.org or check your child's Wednesday envelope for registration details.

Do your part: Donate to WCEF K-12 today!
Have you made your 2015-16 donation to WCEF K-12? Meeting our goal enables us to fund the critical programs and services that so enrich our students' education, like our science lab specialist, who brings science to life with hands-on activities.

Every little bit helps, so please give what you can...our students are counting on you!
What we fund at Murwood:
  • Science Lab Specialists
  • Art
  • Music
  • Physical education
  • Before- and after-school library hours
  • Professional coaching and mentoring time for teachers
None of these programs would be available to our students without the donations of parents like you. Do your part;  donate to WCEF K-12 today!

WCEF K-12 is looking for volunteers from Murwood!
Research shows students perform better in school when parents become involved in their education. Have you been looking for a way to get involved? Look no further; WCEF K-12 is looking for volunteers! We currently have the following open position:

They are voting members on the boards of both organizations and are selected and approved by the Murwood PTA.
